Fred and Joe ponder Russian V V V M Mu Alpha Theta Wins At Andrews Math Contest Bernard Beard and Robert Pritchett discuss awards won at the Andrews mathematics contest. Robert Pritchett, senior, and Bernard Beard, freshman, won honors for the Mu Alpha Theta at the annual Andrews Math Contest. Robert won a second place in the science veteran's division ofthe contest and third in the senior mathematics division. A first in the Freshman mathematics division was won by Bernard which helped bring Keystone a fourth place sweepstakes win. Members also entered the University Interscholastic Practice Meet at Roosevelt.

Lasers, Herpetology Included ln FSA Topics Mr, T. Kuberski ofthe Bell Telephone Company shows films on new equipment. Members enjoy meetings on various fields of science. J.E.T.S. Attend ASZM Convention The Junior Engineering and Technical Society atten- ded a convention at Texas A8cM University. At this convention speakers discussed various aspects of en- gineering and engineering displays were on exhibit. Speakers helped make the Future Scientists of America's meetings educational and fulfilling. Mr. Tony Kuberski of the Bell Telephone Company was the first speaker. He previewed two films on lasers and a new switching system utilized by the telephone company. Mr. Alfred Dinkins, head of Louis W. Fox High School science department, spoke on herpe- tology and his field work for the American Museum of Natural History. F.S.A. members spent many hours preparing for the Alamo Regional Science Fair. Their sponsor, Mr. E. W. Eargle, was chairman of the Science Fair this year. mm? A.
