Barbara Benesh joined the crew at the start of our Junior year but left us to attend Wilson High School at Cedar Rapids, We were also sorry to see Phyllis Selk leave the crew. We all looked forward to the day of our vacation and the coming year when we would be called seniors. At last we finally reached the top of the ladder with Lynn Picker- ing as Presidentg Darlys Junge, Vice Presidentg James Meinert, Treasurerg Kay Overturf, Secretaryg and Mardell Reinberg as Reporter. An initiation committee was appointed by the President to decide on the apparel of the freshmen to be initiated. The girls were required to tint their hair with various food colorings while the boys supplied the seniors with candy and gum. Most of the seniors worked on the school paper to make it a great success which we all thought was Another important project was the annual, which caused the Edltor, Carolyn Hennings, and her staff quite a few hours of hard work of course there was a certain amount of enjoyment Then came the day when we were to decide what to do after we left school To help us along we went to Garrison for Career Day and to Vinton for College Day We also spent a day at the County Court House to experience the procedure of a trial After being a member of the class for so many years, Lurline Braksiek left us to finish her school days at Vinton High School On May 13 a chartered Greyhound bus took us to Chicago for our class trip We were accommodated at the Palmer House for 3 days Tear streaked faces and hopeful hearts marked our gra.duat1on which was held on May 2.3 in the school auditorium Dr R Schenken presented the commencement address with 'Sugar Coated Pills and the Holy Grail as the topic Reverend Basye spoke on the 5 D's for his baccalaureate address which was May ZZ in the school auditorium also We all disliked the thought of leaving our classmates and going out into the world on our own As you can see, it wasn't a bit dull, now was 1t'P So the best of luck to the underclassmen We hope you have as much fun and as much cooperation from the other students and faculty as we have had Sincerely yours, ffwwvzibw Senior Class gs X X 215 riff ll N . , . . . , . . . . . . , . ll ' .
