CLASS HISTORY Dear KHS Underclassmen Just a l1ttle note to tell you about our 4 years at KHS It was not all play but qu1te a b1t of work We started 1n I-hgh School as green as you d1d but look how we turned out' ' You can do the same 1f you want to you can follow our footsteps As we stepped on to the prmson grounds, we were suddenly faced w1th a large group of upper classmen who gently smeared us w1th shoe pohsh of all colors and l1pst1ck We chose for our class off1cers Pres1dent Duane Holst V1ce Pres1dent Lynn P1cker1ng Secretary Gerald Hupfeld Treasurer Beverly Henmngs Reporter Delmer Mehlert and Frances Danker was elected to represent us 1n the Student Counc1l along w1th Duane Holst Darlys .lunge left us to attend the V1ola School and our class number was then reduced to Z9 We d1dn't let the upper classmen take all the honors but 1nstead took a top hand 1n everythmg we took part 1n We were all happy when 1n1t1at1on was over and began th1nk1ng of torture for the Freshman we would 1n1t1ate A year rolled around and brought our class to the sophomore sess1on Lynn P1cker1ng was elected Pres1dent Carolyn Henmngs, V1ce Pres1dent Dolores Hansen Secretary Gerald Hupfeld, Treasurer and Delmer Mehlert Reporter Durmng th1s year we were very sorry to see 4 of our classmen qu1t school They were Donald Andresen Russell Kn1pp, Ronald Ledger and Charles Vesley, wh1le Joyce Blackman and Darlys Junge Jomed the crew Agamn we took a part rn all aCt1V1t18S as was the case 1n the prev1ous year L1ke most classes, we showed how m1sch1evous we really could be as Sophomores but qu1eted down completely for the rema1n1ng two years When vacat1on was over and the next sess1on of school started we were rnlghty proud to be called Jun1ors and be cons1dered upper classmen We were kept qu1te busy workmg on the banquet, class play and var1ous other matters such as class part1es and some study1ng We recelved our class rmgs 1n the fall but many of us, to our m1sfortune lost them or gave them away Duane Holst headed the class w1th ass1stance from Gerald Hupfeld Vlce Pres1dent Beverly I-Ienmngs, Secretary Carolyn Hennmgs Treasurer and Lynn P1cker1ng acted as Reporter Under the d1rect1on of Ed Newman the play 'My Heart's on H1gh' was presented to the publmc Those 1n the cast and stage crew d1d a f1ne Job and enjoyed g1v1ng the play along w1th the enjoyable practlces The theme we chose for our banquet Was Moonlxght and Roses Mr Roese and Mrs Sloan gave us the needed gmdance to make our banquet a success Long hard hours were put 1n but our share of the fun was plent1ful We thought lt was one of the most beaut1ful scenes ever chosen for a banquet and were very proud when members of the faculty and parents comphmented our work Comphrnents of I-IARTWIG AUTO CO LEO WASCHUT Clut1er Iowa Elberon, Iowa . . 3 o Il ' - - I l . .n . , , 1 . . 9 1 . . .
