Eddie Griggs B.S. American History SOCIAL STUDIES: PAST IS BUT A PROLOGUE . . The Social Studies Curriculum is set up so there is little duplication of experiences for the pupil. It is evaluated each year in order to determine the needs of the pupils and to meet these needs as adequately as possible. The faculty meets periodically to improve and add to a curriculum guide. There is an inter change of ideas here-supplementary materials are exchanged-new ideas and methods are gleaned. There is a constant striving of teachers to keep the aim in sight-to study the past to understand the present, to be aware of one's cultural heritage, to have an understanding of governmental organization, and the rights and responsibilities that go with this heritage. DEVELOPS SKILLS ON THE JOB Diversified Cooperative Training is a pro- gram set up in our high school to offer posi- tions in the commercial world for students of legal, employable age in the Junior and Sen- ior years. Employers provide different working posi- tions for the student learners during the school yearg moreover the learners are given planned and supervised training in a spaced period of time to determine the requisite skills. The co-operating employers set up related study schedules in order that the combination of skills and knowledge will produce top-grade employees instead of the usual, mediocre workers.
