The class treasury grew rapidly with the addition of funds from dances. cake sales, and many other projects throughout the year. The Juniors gaye the Homecoming activities a roaring send-off by kindling a huge bonfire. Christ- mas vacation-time came and the entire school ap- plauded the Juniors presentation of Dickens' Christmas Carol starring Jerry Watson a- Scrooge. Teaming up with the Independent 7 staff. the Junior class helped to produce the ey er-popular Harvest of Stars. Ketterlinus was outstanding in all athletic activi- ties again this year, and the Junior class was well represented in each one. Sparked by the fine playing of Valentine, Watson, Moseley. and Tebault. the Yellow Jackets retained the East Florida Confer- ence crown for the fifth time in six years. The Ba-- ketball teams were highly successful this year. and the scoring department was dominated by Junior class member. Buddy Markel. The crowning achieve- ment of the basketball season was humbling our traditional rlyals the Palatka Nlaroons Baseball season found the Juniors helping to establi h the Yellow Jackets as formidable opponents in the East Florida Conference This year. something new was introduced to the school by the Junior class. After many attempts to remove technical difficulties. a successful effort was made by the Juniors to introduce a choice of companies from which we might purchase our class rings. The Junior class was well represented on the Stu- dent Council. and helped to influence the succefs of many of its projects. Outstanding among these projects were the sale of magazines. helping to pur- chase water 'coolers. and boosting the school spirit. The cheerleaders really helped to boost school spirit too, and the Juniors were represented by Shepherd. Crumley. Harris. LaVigne. and Preble. The vear reached a climax when the Junior. honored the Seniors with a truly beautiful prom at the Lightner Museum Casino. The Class of 1933 has already made an outstand- ing record during its three years in Ketterlinus. We hope that next year will he the most successful. most enjoyable of all. fi' mf' Carol COX? This always starts the ball rolling through a successful season. Miss Frances Crean the new coach has done a fine job coaching the Pirates. Although being a new basketball coach in K. H. S.. she has shown her ability and spirit in working with these girls. The Pirates started off with only five lettermen. which made the season a tough one. The lettermen were: Carolyn Hunter loan Carter Annette Bennett. ,Ianet Preble and Marty Adams. These girls have shown their same ability and fighting spirit on the court. Some newcomers to the team who have shown their ability a: outstanding players are: Dot Faulkiner. and lean Stoppelbein. Carolyn Rouse. a forward from last year's B team. has shown excellent ball handling. Pat Dale and Carolyn Hunter proved to be valuable assets under the basket with their fine shooting ability. ,loan Sellers also helped with the scoring. The opponents' found it very hard to score against the uniquely clever tactics of our guards. With the fast play of ,loan Carter and Annette Bennett. the game was always a thrilling one. Janet Preble and Marty Adams used their height under the basket to recover many of the rebounds. Kathy Harris and Gayle Dinkins also kept the ball moving toward the Pirates goal. And last but not least come the managers who were Ramelle Dodds and Bonnie Lee Poe. These girls mastered their tasks with great finesse. Much experience was gained by all through a successful season. A thrilling girls' basketball game. which this year's proved to be, is always enjoyed by everyone.
