The Captain in command of their first two years is Marjorie Wiese and the passengers are Gene Dawson, Alberta Fridley, Norine Wagner, Mary Jean Morgan, and Norman Collins. We entered the second year of our journey with the same five and three new passengers--George Van Fleet, Billy Martin, and Albert Means. In the Third Grade we lost Billy Martin and gained Lucille Dunn. Velma McClung became the Captain to pilot us through the next two years of our journey As we docked between Ports Three and Four, we lost four of our pass- engers and gained one--Richard Channel, who was with us only a short time, leaving Lucille Dunn, Alberta Fridley, Albert Means, and George Van Fleet to journey onward. Gladys Meyer guided us safely through the fifth and sixth years and in the Sixth Grade we gained Mervin Husband. In the second half of our voyage Val Eva Graham became our Captain to see us safely to Port Seven. During this league of our voyage we gained two new passengers--Helen Taylor and Dale Wright. Velda Jean Axmear took command in our eighth year where we gained Glenn Wyant and lost Dale Wright. Those who graduated from the eighth grade were Mervin Husband, George Van Fleet, Albert Means, Helen Taylor, Lucille Dunn, and Alberta Fridley. Leaving Grade School forever behind us we journey onward into High School with the same six passengers who left the Eighth Grade Harbor and four new ones to make our trip merrier--Florence Craig, Glenn Raplinger, Earl Craig, and Ray Terrell. Our commanders during our freshman year at K. H. S. were W. L. Evans, Jessie T. Earhart, and Norma Erwin. We lost Albert Means between Ports Nine and Ten when he moved to Sigourney. In our Sophomore year with W. L. Evans as our Captain and Miss Quaintance, Mrs. Stanley. and Mrs. Earhart as co-captains we gained Bob Meeks, Rex Bowman. and Dolores Keener, at the same time losing Ray Terrell. , As we docked between our Sophomore and Junior years we lost Helen , who moved to Millersburg, and George Van Fleet, who moved to South Laux came then from Thornburg to help over-come our loss and and Emma Butenschoen were added during the last semester of 1 X 1 With Mr. Evans still in command we find Tom Englebert, Harriet Higgins and Mrs. Dawson as co-captains. During the year Mrs. Dawson's health made it impossible for her to complete the years journey so she was replaced by Mrs. Earhart for a few weeks and then Mrs. Starry took over for the remainder of this league of the voyage. Mervin Husband dropped out during our Junior year. Guiding us in the final lap of our journey we find H. C. Ensminger. Jo Ann Johnson, Tom Englebert, and Mina Hargis. Between the Junior and Senior Ports we lost Lucille Dunn and gained another passenger--Harold Ensminger. Those who will walk down the gang-plank at the end of this long voyage are: Harold Ensminger Emma Butenschoen Albert Means John Laux Dolores Keener Rex Bowman Bob Meeks Glenn Raplinger Florence Craig Earl Craig Alberta Fridley CLASS POEM We've come tonight to celebrate The class of Nineteen forty-eight Our hearts are sad, our thoughts are blue, As now we say Farewell to you First it's happy Dolores Keener, We all are glad that we have seen her. And the little one, so well-known, ls petite Emma Butenschoen. Sweet and demure is Florence Craig, Your luck we wish, your smile we beg. One lady fair seeks further fame, Alberta Fridley is her name. I-le's not a clown and not a showman, We say Goodbye to Rex Bowman. -A' - 1 I o tf'!RL Then there is one with eyes so keen, It must be black-haired Albert Mean. Altho he is no singer, His name is still, Harold Ensminger. He is so tall and slim of leg, It is no other than Earl Craig. We wonder, wonder what he seeks, When mischief drives, Robert Meeks He is not fair, he has no rocks, But Margaret says, It is John Laux. He is so true, we can't forget, That Glenn himself is in the set. This is not poetry, it is only rhyme, So why should I take further time. So we'll not cry, but only sigh, As to the seniors we say, Goodbye.' SENIOR ACTIVITIES--Continued HAROLD ENSMINGER Senior Class Secretary and Treasurer Humor Writer for Klipper ALBERT MEANS One Year Basketball Junior Class Play 1947 Senior Class Play 1948 Senior Class Play 1947 Typist for Klipper SENIOR CLASS WILL--Continued I John Laux, will and bequeath my vivacious personality to Nornne Wagner in hopes that she soon peps up. Signed--- JohnQ P Semor SENIOR CLASS PROP!-IEC Y On a sunny May lZth day in l954 the senior class of 1948 held their annual reunion on the banks of Lake Keswick near the renowned city of that same name. The honored guest was H. C. Ensminger, the class's former superintendent who is now the famous multi-millionaire. The first to arrive was Glenn Raplinger, who now operates a barber salon in Chicago and specializes in hair restoring. Next to come was Mr. and Mrs. Rex Bowman who now live in New York City and are owner and manager of the Matrimonial Bureau. Mrs. Bowman is the former Dolores Keener. Soon came Earl Craig who, if you tune in to the Lucky Strike Program you can hear his tobacco auctioneer's chant. He has replaced Orville Blew and does an excellent job. Next, in his stetson and cowboy boots, came Harold ftwo-gunl Ensminger, the once hard-riding rodeo star, and now owns a dude ranch in Arizona. Arriving in her Cadillac is Florence Craig, who is now writing love stories for True Story Magazine. We hear it pays very well. Florence is the only old maid of the class of '48. Stepping out of a new Lincoln, we see Bob Meeks and his lovely Eskimo bride. Bob has just returned from prospecting in the Yukon. Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. Greene arrived soon from Miami, Florida. Mrs. Greene, the former Emma Butenschoen, raises white mice for thewor1d's leading scientists. Dashing up next on horseback comes John Laux. John is very successful in athletics, winning national honors in track, baseball and broad jumping. He is also a professional basketball player. Then out of a clear blue sky dropped Alberta Fridley Haymes by para- chute. She has been singing with her husband Dick, for the past three years. Last, as in school days, Albert Means gets there at the last second. Al is now chief mechanic at General Motors and is doing great. After an enjoyable dinner they all agreed to return to the enormous lake the following year. .ru 4 . - R . n . K . 0 . - f . N hlkhaq A 'H Uv 'iv 4 I . 1 x l . 4 v A X 0 A , . . ' - V .
