We were full of anticipation, expectation, and joy. We had before us four years of highest hopes. These hopes have not been daunted in these years. Mrs. William Fulp and Mr. R. M. Hinshaw were our home room teachers. Most of the fifty-six members took the first year seriously and worked toward the goal of becoming sophomores. The second year in high school found the class with new home room teachers, Mrs. E. B. Parks and Miss Katie Mae Newton. The class had several parties which they thoroughly enjoyed. A trip to the capitol at Raleigh was fur as well as educational. During this year we chose class colors, green and white; class motto, ‘““Together and Forward,” and a class flower, the lily. Those we still keep. Our Junior year under Miss Katie Mae Newton as home room advisor was a most interesting one. The chief event of the year, outside of our studies, the Junior-Senior reception was held at the Robert E. Lee Roof Garden on April 17. Dick Jones’ orchestra provided music for the gala affair. All the Juniors and Seniors were there along with the faculty and Mr. and Mrs. Cash. During the year the Juniors sponsored a rather unique basketball game on skates. This game was enjoyed by all who saw it and who participated in it. Our Senior year, under the guidance and direction of Mr. J. W. Bowers as home room teacher, has been a busy one. The class voted to put out the third edition of the Retrospect, which was gotten out in May. The Juniors gave the Seniors a reception in the Reynolds Grill on April 26. We Seniors appreciated this very much. Each member of the class had a grand time. Our high school days have been happy and useful ones. We thank each of our teachers for their co-operation and guidance and to Mr. J. R. Blackwell, our Principal, we extend our most sincere gratitude for his helpful and sympathetic interest throughout our high school career.
