J CQunc1l OHICSIS left to right are Leon Bames presldent Nancy Mltchell secretary and trecxs urer and Ioe Don Holcroft vice president STUDENT COUNCIL The student counc1l of KI-IS was established in the sprtng of 1941 and spon sored by the Civics class under the superv1s1on of Tommy Thompson pr1n cxpal lts purpose is to form a more democratic orgamzation insure loyalty es tabhsh good c1t1zensh1p improve student faculty relations promote school spirit and prov1de clean recreation tor all The council of 1946 47 led by Leon Barnes undertook many prolects They sponsored a volleyball tournament during the noon hour set up a schedule of assembly programs for the year sponsored dances alter football and basketball games welcomed v1s1t1ng football teams sponsored the Halloween Carnival which provided funds for all classes and clubs, and worked con- tinually tor the betterment ot KI-IS. The offices of president, vice-president, and secretary and treasurer are filled by secret ballot ot the entire student body. The senators andrepresentatives are elected by the classes.
