Take a quick look back to the fond memories of life at Kerman High, There were Jitterbugs, Bobbysoxers, running boards, rumble seats, foxtails on bicycles and coonskin caps, scooters made out of orange crates and roller skate wheels, washboards, Saturday Matinee serials, Knickers, flypaper, ice boxes, coal bins, Zoot Suits, and hand-painted ties. These are some of the little things. . .the things we . never really quite forget. In the 1972 MEGA we have tried to combine the old with the new. The past played its part for today which will help us build tomorrow. This year has truly been an eventful one, We have seen some of the doors that are open to us and in time will see more of them, It has been said One man in his lifetime has many parts . Life yesterday, today, and every day is a part of us. We, the annual staff , are leaving you with a part of ourselves as the generations before us have done. We have tried to give you a book that will help you remember. ' UNI, I nllvnn- ,Qin ' 'N fn 'I I '-' . League meetings and student exchanges afforded people the opportunity to compare and discuss common interests. Our student council, led by Kathy Kubo, sought to adopt policies and activities in which larger, more Varied groups of students could participate. This was the second consecutive year the Scheidts had a foreign exchange student stay with them, On campus, Yutaka made a point to attend most activities and was very conscientious about his classwork, Although he confessed that he was confused by American football, Yutaka became an avid fan and one of the loudest rooters, He took a great interest in the functions of Student Council, comparing them with his school counci1's activities. Upon his return home in August, Yutaka will be completing his final semester of high school, He hopes to continue to a university to study electrical engineering, 1 . The Chorus began their year by pre- senting an annual Christmas Concert. On the fifth of February, 30 people went to Stockton for the Music Clinic, where there were approximately 7,000 other students attending. One month later they went to Selma to compete against other schools, in an attempt for the superior rating. A'Cappel1a received a II rating, and Girls' Chorus received a III rating. This was discouraging to them, for this was their first performing year. To introduce their Spring feelings, they presented a Spring Concert, and ended their year with a field trip to Santa Cruz. To help buy them the band sold Happy Bulletin Boards as well as calendars. Most of the money came from members of the community. The people who donated money were, Rotary Club, Lion's Club, Boosters Club, H.D. Weis, Al Haupt, Pete Haupt, Kerman Motor Parts, Board of Education, Kerman Drug, M. Radavero, and V. F. W. To thank these people for donating money the band put on an hour long concert. Debbie McAfee who plays bass clarinet performed with the All-State Band. This year they performed at Roosevelt High School. This year's officers were, President Joey Sagariballa, Vice- President Rick Cooley, Secretary-Treasurer Pam Cottrell, Representative Larry Georgeson, Reporter Debbie McAfee, and Librarian Michele Hampton. In Jan- .uary, they toured Berven Rug Mill in Fresno and observed how carpet is sewn, dyed and cut. Later in the yeanseveral members attended the Winter Conference in Caruthers. Those who attended entered such contests as typing, spelling, short- hand, and bookkeeping. After the Winter Con- ference, some members attended the State Con- vention in Anaheim. There they observed parlia- mentary procedure and the Mr, and Miss FBLA pageant. The Future Teachers of America had a very unproductive year. The club planned several activities but were unable to organize them due to the lack of enthusiasm. At the last minute however, they sponsored a.Senior Teacher Day and a field trip to Fresno State College. Next year the club hopes to be- come more active and have more enthusiasm. People that were important to the existence of our school. One of the new faces was Mrs. Inella Brown, who did her part in keeping the cam- pus clean for us. The second face was Mr. Wayne Taylor who helped with the transporting of the out of town students to our cam- pus, and to out of town activities. The last new arrival was Miss Lois Wilson, who helped keep the students records in order. These new people helped students at Kerman High have a school they could be proud of and enjoy. This year the annual is called Mega instead of the traditional name Lion . The annual staffs goal was to produce the best yearbook yet. New staff members and old exchanged ideas and ex- perience. Together they spent many long hours to achieve their goal. ' E The yearbook members wish to express their apprecia- tion to Maxwell Studio for taking pictures, Mr. Leonard Doos, the Pub1isher's Representative, for technical as- sistance, Mrs. Irene Peterson for keeping our books and to our many advertisers, for without their help it would be impossible to produce the yearbook.
