'51 Lruiae THE VICE PRlNClPAL'S MESSAGE The turmoil of an unsettled world will in the next few years require from every one of us the highest traits of character and of devotion to country beyond the call of duty. Thus, education, with this in mind, must prepare the citizens of tomorrow to rise to great heights, to tackle responsibility with vigor, to respect authority devotedly, and to take the ups and downs of life with patience, strength and determination. Let the answer to our efforts in the next few years and through life be well done. Let us take heed of the words of Theodore Roosevelt in his description of the American Boy which follows: The best boys l know-the best men l know- are good at their studies or their business, fearless and stalwart, hated and feared by all that is wicked and depraved, incapable of submitting to wrong doing, and equally incapable of being aught but tender to the weak and helpless. Of course, the effect that a thoroughly manly, thoroughly straight and upright boy can have upon the companions of his own age, and upon those who are younger, is incalculablef' Using these words as a guide, one can and should :ae able to call himself a good man, the highest tribute possible. , i f .f .ff v- ,,v ff ,nf i John D.
