The Junior Varsity team start d the 1950 51 season with many new faces and much hope Under the excellent supervision of Coach Hamlin they quickly started to shape up into a promising squad Despite this fact, the boys soon learned how to take defeat with a smile They knew that each game was another chance to show their worth and so, they played each game for itself It must be realized that on the whole, they were greatly out classed by their opponents and the schools they represented Several of the Jayvee players progressed rapidly to the Varsity squa after proving their worth Next season should prove a huge success after the fine experience of this one SCORES Ellenville New Paltz Highland Saugerties Wallkill Otisville Marlboro New Paltz Otisville Highland Saugerties Wallkill Marlboro Grahamsville ! JR HIGH BASKETBJYI theft to Rightb Row I vayne Lawrence, Floyd Sherman, James McGrath Row II Melvin Barnum, Ronnie Countryman, Maurice Burgher, Ben Steers, Arthur Williams, Carlton Connor Row III Neil McCauley, Charles Anderson, Dick Steers, Pete Batelle, Roger Squier, Don Gunther Row IV Mr Percoco, Richard Edwards, John Nuss, Gerald DePew, Ronnie Miller The Junior High Basketball squad began its season with a game against Grahamsville Their team had height and experience while it was Kerhonkson's first game of the season John Nuss was high scorer for us Ve then began to practice for the Ellenville game here We met Ellenville and they took the game becaus of their speed and their long line of players, for they changed teams each quarter while we only had seven men Practice for our second game'with Ellenville commenced We only had eight points at the end of the first half Mr Percoco gave us a stiff talking to Ve went out for the second half to ring up seventeen points Richard Edwards was high scorer with seven So the season went with 5 games played 2 with Ellenville, 2 with Pine Bush and l with Grahamsville Under the skillful hands of Mr Percoco, good material for next years Jayvee Squad as well as experienced men for the Jr. High Team was formed. 49 ,4 'S-X ffl, - Q ' M 1' -..
