COMMENCEMENT PLANS Dr. Arthur S. Taylor from the Southern Oregon College of Education at Ashland will deliver the Commencement address and has chosen for his topic The Problems of Victory. The program will be held on Thursday evening, May 27, in the High School Gym- nasium. The stage will be moved from the West end to the East end of the gym for this occasion. M Iss ELINOR HATCH BACCALAUREATE Baccalaureate services for the-Seniors took place Sunday, May 23, in the Commun- ity Church at Cave Junction. Rev. George Gray preached a very appropriate sermon using as his subject, What Shall It Profit a Man? Three Senior girls, Joyce Payne, Barbara Byrne, and Janet Martin sang, ln The Gardenu and Mrs. Dorothy Gray sang Have You Counted the'Cost? JUNIOR - SENIOR PROM I The Junior-Senior Prom was held in the gymnasium on Friday evening, May 21st, in a very unique setting arranged by the Junior Class. A wishing well with its sur- rounding garden of roses occupied the East end of the gym while the stage in the West end was turned into a portico of a Southern mansion with green lawn in front. The musicians, performing their duties to perfection, played from this portico. .About mid-evening the men were permitted to vote for a Prom Queen to be chosen from the Senior girls. Joyce Payne was the lucky girl and was crowned by Bob- Wendt, Student Body president. A grand march followed the crowning ceremony. Luncheon of cake and punch was furnished the guests just before the close of the Prom. f Mr. and Mrs. Lew Hammer and Mr. and Mrs. George Martin were special guests of the evening. The Junior Class is to be complimented for the artistic decorations and the fine program provided.
