BoY's sPoRTs LETTERMANS CLUB 'SMOKER The Annual Lettermen's Club Smoker was held at the American Legion Hall, Cave Junction, Oregon, October 14, 1942. A There were twelve exciting bouts, and a battle ro al wrestling match. These twelve bouts netted a profit of 359100. The smoker is the only source of income the Club has. Those participating from the High School were: George Kellert, Orville' Looper, Richard Payne, Byron Slack, Wesley Vahrenwald, Dale Brown, Richard McCrady, James Baldwin, Clinton Freitas, Ernest Krauss, john Prentice, Walter Goldsby, jay Hays, Glenn Halm, and Jack Sowell. V ' The program was under the direction of Mr. Hansen, whose efforts were very helpful and greatly appreciated. The referee was Keith Owen and the judges were Lonnie Dixon and E. Y. Taylor.. The Lettermen's Club expresses their appreciation to them and to the Redwood Ranger Station for the use of a canvass floor covering, and to the American Legion for the use of their hall.

GIRIJS SPORTS 'i -,.--gi1,-- A' 4 P I u Activities in Girls Sports'haven't'been so numerous this year as they were last. A volleyball team was organized under the direction of Miss Bailey, coach. The members of the team were: Norma McCrady, Dora Hammer, Rosemary Sachse, Allene Brewer, Ethel Elroy, Peggy Haberman, Charlene Miller, Yvonne Payne, Donnis Sauer, Betty Strong, and Mae Webb. Donnis Sauer, who was elected Captain of the team, moved away, and Norma McCrady was then appointed Captain. Two games were played with Grants Pass. The first was played in Kerby, Grants Pass winning by a score of 35 to 23. For the second game, Kerby made the trip to Grants Pass, Grants Pass won by a scoreof 46 to 14. The girls are hoping to do much better. next year. They hope to be able to play more games if it -is possible. . . The girls played several practice games with the boys. The girls won the first game and also the second. We haven't done much in softball yet, this year. We are sure that we will have a winning team. The girls wish to thank the Student Body and the Faculty for their interest, support, and cooperation, which helped them to carry on. '
