Our football season ended with a bang-up victory over Ft. Madison. The basketball team went to the 'state finals, which was the first time in the history of the school that K. H. S. was represented in the state finals. Our tennis and track teams should also enjoy a successful season this year. 14tlalet2'A Hom ecvmin Homecoming of 1949 was ushered in by a pep rally and bonfire held on the practice foot- ball field on Thursday night, November 10. Friday was a beautiful, spring-like day and it was an enthusiastic crowd that watched the Keokuk Chiefs triumph over their strongest rival, the Fort Madison Bloodhounds, 13-7. The Fort Madison Kilties and band performed at the half- time, followed by the crowning of our own Homecoming Queen, Mildred DeLaney. Friday night - the end of a perfect day - tired but happy boys and girls danced in the gym. The queen and her at- tendants, Maxine Shefiier and Dorothy Glover, reigned over the dance from a throne at the west end of the gym. 40 5 1 XS- s an Q! +R ' x X., . , fu +4x5k 9-fi' - 4 3 F... is A if I 2 1 T sr I' 5 ,v I s. 5 ,Z pn ClaiefA After what the Chiefs themselves call a successful sea- son Qlieokuk 13, Madison 71, we say good bye to the seniors on this year's squad, and bid the juniors and seniors on next year's squad good luck and wish them many more touch- downs than their opponents might make. Comment Staff An Annual is a publication which fixes in permanent form the everchanging impres- sions of High School life throughout the year. Bearing this in mind the staff of the 1950 Comment has endeavored to compile a book that will serve as a true representation of the many aspects of our High School activity, and a true record of achievement in the stu- dent body. Our aim has been to reflect the diversified and characteristic interests of the student at work and at play.
