The Student Government Association of Ken- wood functions in a democratic manner. Under the recently adopted system. there are 1-L repre- sentatives from the Senior class. 12 representa- tives from the Junior class. and 10 representa- tives from the Sophomore class. which meet ev- ery Wediiesdaye. The purpose of this group is to assist the faculty in formulating plans for the Coming year. lf the school is to function well. the S.C.A. must be active by setting up goals and meeting them. Under the direction of the S.G.A. officers. the group sponsored dances. attended Regional and State S.G.A. meetings. directed class elections. played music during lunch per- iods. distributed 15 baskets of food to needy families at Christmas, made available name signs for teachers. presented to K.H.S. a mascot cos- tume, and elected our exchange students honor- ary members of the S.C.A.

AT IO HO OR OCTET Y The National Honor Society. nearing the end of its second year at Kenwood. has a fourfold purpose: creating enthusiasm for scholarships: stimulating a desire to render service: promoting worthy leadership: and encouraging thc development of character in Kenwood students. The accomplishments of this group have been many. Throughout the school year. so- ciety members have served as ushers for the Community College Convocation: taken full charge of lost and found operations: assem- bled study materials in the library. posted notices on the Guidance Department bulletin board. and rendered tutoring service to all students who have fallen behind in their work for various reasons.
