Hi, Kenwoodites, I am Victor Pablo Silber, exchange student from Sante Fe, Argentina, under the Auspices of the Ameri- can Field Service Program. In my American family I have six in comparison to my family of four at home-mother, father, brother, aged I3 Cmaybe you'Il see him around here one dayD, and myself. In my home town I attended the twelfth grade of a small high school with only seven hundred students land no girlsli. It was difficult for me to become ac- customed to Kenwood which has a student body of twenty-five hundred Cand girlsj. One outstanding difference I found here is that your seasons are upside down. I had never seen snow in my life before and it was quite an experience. At first we exchange students had the same fear, I wonder how these Americans will be? I never thought that I would find myself agreeing with Japanese and American boys on how we liked meat cooked, or what's the proper thing to do when you are with a girl, or the kind of movies we like. I soon came to realize that people are the same the world over. I want to say thank you to Kenwood, to its teach- ers and students for the understanding attitude they have shown towards me, to the sophomores, iuniors, and seniors who have made this year an unforgettable one for me, and most of all to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Reed, their wonderful sons and daughters, my Ameri- can family. Adios everybody. I , ff Boniour, mes amis, l'm Annie-Madeleine Deville but known to you as Annie. My home town is in Saint Max, France, situated on the outskirts of Nancy, the capital of the province, Lorraine, where I live with my parents, two sisters, Nelly and Sylvie, aged nine and five respectively. One morning in English class, I heard about the American Field Service and I was immediately in- terested. I obtained and completed the necessary ap- plication forms, was interviewed, and waited im- patiently. In June, I received an affirmative answer from New York. Now, I am accustomed to Kenwood, but when I first arrived, I thought I would never get to class on time. Four minutes between two courses seemed awfully short to me when I had to find my way in such a BIG school. I am very favorably impressed with the Kenwoodites who are always very friendly and willing to help me. At the same time I started to know Kenwood I started to know America, too. I can't help liking Ameri- ca because its people are so friendly and sociable. Typical American things as hamburgers, chocolate milk- shakes, bowling, and school games have become very much a part of me, Whatever my future, the one wish that I desire most is to return one day to America and to Ken- wood and say hello to all my many friends. Now I would like to say Au revoir to all at Ken- wood, to Mr. Wheeler and the faculty, and most of all to Mr, and Mrs. Homer Davis, Bettie and Larry, my American parents, sister and brother who have been so merveiIIeux to me. f' 'i V ' il 6 i ii ?
