Campaign posters played an important part in presenting the candidates. On November l, l956, Kenwood High School experienced one of America's outstanding democratic pro- cedures, that of nominating candidates to run tor the highest offices in our country, the presidency and vice presi- dency. lt was only a mock convention but it was not lacking in enthusiasm, spirit, hope and feeling. Both the Democratic and Republi- can parties were vvell represented. There were grand demonstrations with signboards, banners, posters, slogans, and much campaign literature. W alter Rogers Pish-Tush , vee. ..ee R onald Luther Nanki-Poo, the son of the Mikado, has fled. from the court of his father in order to escape marriage to Katisha, an elderly woman. He assumes the disguise of a minstrel, falls in love with Yum-Yum, a fair maiden, but is denied the right to her hand by her guardian, Ko-Ko. How- ever, Ko-Ko has been condemned to death for flirting. A corrupt and proud public official, Pooh-Bah, and a nobleman, Pish-Tush, relate to Ko-Ko, that he has been selected to be Lord High.Execu- 'tionerg therefore, preventing his own death. He then decides to marry Yum-Yum himself. Complications set in when Ko-Ko receives a letter from the Mikado ordering an execution or his resignation. Ko-Ko bargains with Nanki-Poo, giving him one month of marriage to Yum-Yum in exchange for his life. in the meantime, Katisha arrives in Titipu in search of Nanki-Poo.
