An assignment is made-a problem must be solved. The student, the pupil or the candidate looks more nearly at the solution. On the contrary, this is given merely as a device to stimulate and arouse the curiosity for learning. This is the act of the 'Kwise teacher? Such a wise teacher is among us at Kentucky State Col- lege. She has been exposed to the illustrious educational heights that have enabled her to appreciate with fullness upper divisions of our elementary grades as we practice at Rosenwald Laboratory School and as we now appreciate through our challenging roles in our Department of Edu- cation. This mentor has tasted the honey of learning. Traditionally, though this may be, a review of her past is revealed as indicated. A native of Frankfort, she roamed the halls of the former Clinton High School and was awarded a degree from our illustrious institution. This taste of honey shot into her veins-projected her into the city-New York, where she enjoyed the ivy walls of Columbia University to another Bachelorls degree, and a longing to remain in that city enabled her to attain an M.A. degree from New York City College, now the City University of New York. The empire state has now become a part of this person and the velvet flow of knowledge promulgated up the Hud- son to the University of Syracuse and further study. This heavenly taste was not suflicient. The International flavor had to be added from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. But what is satisfaction? Man in his search for knowl- edge is never satisfied. More studies at the University of Cincinnatig and to complete the cosmopolitan flavor, the University of Kentucky. Since that time, she has returned for more studies repeatedly at her Syracuse. ,QT VVith all this knowledge, service becomes a greater pleasure. The yearning desire to impart knowledgefthe great ecstasy and appreciation watching growth-the chal- lenge to the eager mind and the continuous effervescent activity of youth around herfhas made her blossom with more service and even greater pleasure. Girl Scout Troops have shared this joy-the Student Education Association has become wiser from her council, the Baptist Union Board has sought her advice. Yes, all persons have longingly looked to her for more wisdom and for strength. With these as few laurels. we find no greater achieve- ment than to dedicate this our l968 THOROBRED to our beloved Miss Pattye L. Simpson.
