Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity was founded January 5, 1911 at indiana University, Bloom- ington, Indiana, being incorporated by the State of Indiana on April 15, 1911. lt was first known as the Kappa Alpha Nu Fraternity. In 1941 the name was changed to,Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. The efforts of three men, Elder W. Diggs, Byron K. Armstrong, and John M. Lee, were outstanding in the early development of the Fraternity. The Fraternity aims at the highest achievement in scholarship, manly development of its members, and the general improvement of college. i -82-

A Brief History Of Mega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Omega Psi Phi Fraternity was founded on November 17, 1911, by Brothers Edgar A. Love, Oscar J. Cooper, Frank Coleman, and Ernest E. Just, now deceased. These four men, in the early part of the twentieth century, seized upon the cultural heritage of the human race and especially upon the heritage of their forefathers, and at their Alma Mater, Howard University, Washington, D.C., established the national Greek-letter Fraternity, the Omega Psi Phi. ln their founding the first national Greek-letter fraternity to be organized at a Ne- gro institution of higher learning, the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity pioneered and blazed the way for other fraternities that have followed. The four cardinal principles upon which Omega Psi Phi is founded are Manhood, Scho- larship, Perseverance, and Uplift.
