January l4, l96O To the Students of Kentucky State College: The Yearbook Staff this year has chosen TRANSITION as its theme, that is, transition from the Kentucky State College of yesteryear to the college of today. This theme is appropriate and in keep- ing with the times in which we live. Some author has said, There is nothing permanent except change. The face of our college has changed over the years, new buildings have risen here and there, students are more numerous and younger, some integration has occurred, the curriculum is broader and requirements are more rigid and standardized. There are some things, however, which have not changed and we hope they never will: devo- tion of faculty to the lofty iob of instructing and guiding youth to the better things of life, dedication of students to scholarly achievement and accomplishment up to the maximum degree possible and a consecration by faculty and student to the service of society. These qualities characterized the Kentucky State College of yesteryear and it is the task of all of us who are here today to see that these virtues, remain forever. We of today have this obligation to those who.have passed through these walls as well as to those who are yet to come. I am certain that we accept the challenge as well as the opportunity.
