| = | This yearbook is dedicated to our Superintendent, Mr. L. Pe Howser, who is retiring this year. Mr. Howser began his career at the Kentucky School for the Blind as teaching-principal in 19)8. He became superintendent in 1956. During his tenure as superintendent, he has helped to upgrade the professional status of the faculty and staff, expanded the educational opportunities for our children, and has helped to plan the various new buildingson our -campus. The school has been in continuous operation since that time, with the — exception of a few months during the aa Civil War. e The philosophy of the school has ee always been to develop to their maximum the academic abilities, physical capabilities, and spiritual insight of each student. — It is the desire of all our = personnel that allchildren who have “a a visual handicap, have the best in educational opportunities.
