W. girl who is the possessor of the golden Old English K can well be proud, for to earn this beautiful letter is not an easy task. To win this prize awarded by the Athletic Association a girl must earn three K's, which are obtained through proficiency in at least three different sports. K and numerals are given in swimming, hiking, tennis, basketball and baseball. The K is given to any girl who plays at least five halves of the match games in basketball, three-fourths of the total number of innings played in baseball, to the two girls who play in the tennis finals, to all who pass the advanced swimming test, and to all who complete one hundred and seventy-five miles in hiking. The class numeral is granted to all those who play at least live halves of the class games in basketball, one-half of the total number of innings played in baseball, to the class champion in tennis, to those who pass the Hrst swimmmfr test and to all who complete one hundred and twenty-eight miles in hiking. Although the club was just organized in the fall of the year, one girl has already won her three Ks Mary Carlisle Bird, having earned a K in basketball, hiking and swimming, has the distinction and honor of being the first member of this athletic club. But by the close of the baseball season many more will have won the necessary K's and the club will be a truly active body of girls. Such an organization is a great asset to the student life, for not only does it stand for good sports manship and interest in women's athletics, but for one worth-while thing in life as well.
