' The Athletic Association ,gt UR Athletic Association has always been one of the most popular organiza- f, an tions at old K. C. W. Each year the membership has increased: in fact, X,-X we have solicited the greatest of interest and support from our friends at QC sw 5:1 Kiki A B '. 1' k.. A -S3 ' t 9 Centre. The athletic season opened with much enthusiasm for the many interesting phases of sport life it offered. The interclass contests, which began immediately after the election of officers, differed slightly from last year. A K Club was organized, which provided that each girl passing any three of the five sport contests would become a member. The first fall sport was swimming, the pool being patronized by all. As the days became cooler every morning stepping along that much gain the girls preferred that enjoyable outdoor sport-hiking. Practically and afternoon found all pikes leading from Danville dotted with girls, with much vim and enthusiasm, for each milestone they passed was just for their class record. When the cold winter days came no one dared to venture out on the highways, our ever-bubbling over pep was turned to basketball. The season was a most interesting one. Our class games were the first and the senior preps won the much-prized champion- ship. What would our basketball season be if it were not for the good old games played by the Reds and Blacks? How those snake dances, songs, cheers, and those mascots so significantly costumed spur the players on to a glorious victory. The first of these games occurred February 26, the score being 8 to 7 in favor of the Reds. One week later the Reds were victors for a second time, the score being 3 to l l. The third and last game was played March ll, and the Reds carried away the laurels. Even though the Blacks didn't win, they fought hard, and their many good plays did not go unnoticed. Everyone is looking forward to tennis and baseball, for K. C. W. may Well boast of some of her excellent players. Judging from the most enjoyable athletic banquet of l920, we may be assured that this momentous occasion may even be surpassed by the Athletic Association of l92l. Page .sixty
