V J Here I am back in Danville. Can you realize it has been almost ten U93 years since our class was together? Danville has grown so you would hardly know it. They even have a porter to take your baggage at the train. When I arrived, who should step up and take my bag but Virginia Baker, in the uniform of a red-cap porter. She told me that Erma Woodard had a truck farm in Texas and is raising cain.', Elizabeth Marston left last week as a missionary to Siam. Sara Shelby married a Presbyterian minister. I didn't catch his last name, but his first was Douglass. As I went on up town a large sign caught my eye. It bore in blazing letters: Mademoiselle Lillian Hart, Instructor in Dancing. Another just above it read: Lawyer-Gladys Centerg Divorce Cases a Specialty. On my way to K. C. W. my attention was attracted by a large crowd on the corner of the Shop Perfect. Much to my amazement I saw Elizabeth King standing on a soap box delivering an oration in the interest of the Salvation Army. She was screaming at the top of her voice. I started, only to be stopped again, this time by a billboard in front of Stout's Theater. It read: Mademoiselle Fleecia Robinsonelle, Noted Toe Dancer, Here Tonight and Tomorrow Only. Next: The Famous Moss Sisters, Ruby and Bessie, will appear in 'The Heavenly Twins'. When I arrived at K. C. W., who should I see coming from the hospital but Rose Lee with an English book under her arm. She told me she had taken Miss Flynn's place as English teacher. I found afterwards that her pupils liked her very much, because she rarely appeared on the scene. On going in, I found that Cecil Byrley was now dean, with Frances Steinberger as her assistant. You would be surprised at the order they keep. They told me that Ernestine Kemper is married and living with her little family in Seattle, Wash. Lucy Johnson has established a I:eeble-Minded Insti- KI Y DEAREST MARJORY: -ft u tute in Harlan, Ky. Did you know that Mary Phillips is illustrator for Life? Lela Stona Wakeheld is the Centre College widow and still as gay as of old. Scandal, my dear! Mary Walker is divorced again. This must be the fourth time. When I picked up The Evening Post I saw Martha Allen's picture. She has been elected captain of the life guards at Atlantic City. Do you still find teaching history at Smith entertaining? Have you heard from Miss Tomlinson lately? I suppose you are still keeping up with her. I had to give up nursing on account of mother's illness and am now staying at home. I am sending you a copy of Marie Beckner's new book, Speaking of Angels. Affectionately, MARY CROMWELL. Page forty-llirec
