C. W. Notes fSenior Prep Class of Twenty-onelf' It had been a number 1 of years since l had left K. C. W., but, having occasionally kept clippings of my old classmates, l decided to spend the morning reviewing what had happened since we parted on graduation day. On the very first page was a newspaper clipping which ran: Miss Marvin Ray, of Shelbyville, Ky. fand Marvin was our dear presidentj, makes her first flight around the world, leaving New York July 5, l926, and returning July ll, a world-breaking record. We regret to say, however, that her career is not likely to continue long on account of her fondness for royalty. The next thing was a picture of Miss Sara Cardwell, under which was written: Ziegfeld's Leading Lady. She is taking the leading part in Southern Seas, which is now being s'aged for the first time in New York. l turned a page and a picture of Norma Talmadge, or so l thought, fell out: but, on looking closer, l saw it was our classmate, Gladys. Bridges. On the back was written: Country amazed. The real Talmadge has been dead for three years, and Miss Gladys Bridges, of Kentucky, has gone on with her work. A penciled note read: Anna Fox married the owner of her Buick and now lives in Lexington. She is noted for her receptions and dinners. An advertisement followed: Massage, instantaneous bleach, shampoo, scalp treatment, hair tinting, eyebrow arching, manicuring, etc. Satisfaction guaranteed. Apply Kathryn McMurty, 394 Fourth Street, Louisville, Ky. A paper clipping read: On board the Arcadia, which left San Francisco April 23, was Miss Kathryn Harbison, of Danville, Ky., who is going to China as a medical missionary. On the next page were many closely-written notes: Dear little Flo, after a very brilliant debut into Washington society, started slraightway to breaking all the hearts of the young Senators and Repre- sentativesf' Saw Anne Laurie Atwood in Lexington the other day. The same sweet Anne Laurie of K. C. W., but now the mistress of a Texas ranch. jane Wigglesworth met in New York, and married two months later, Count Stuart Saavedra de Cervantes, of Paris, France. They have a chateau in Normandy, and Jane's poise and beauty lit well with her title. Margaret Eason has made a wonderful reputation for herself as an osteopath, and now lives in Boston, Mass. Ruth Thompson is athletic instructor oft Oberlin University, and her fame is widespread. Each year at the athletic tournaments all over the country Ruth carries away the laurels. A newspaper clipping was next marked with red lines: Miss Evelyn Coleman, after a very bril- liant season at Newport, is to be married to the youngest foreign minister of the United States. The announcement is a very great surprise to all her friends, as Miss Coleman has spent the last two years as a dancing teacher of the select class of the East, and was making a great success. ln the same paper clipping was a stunning picture of Helen Todd in a bathing suit and holding a contest cup, under which was written: Beautiful Louisville girl swims the Gulf of Mexico and wins the cup given by International Association of Swimmers. There was a long account of her skill and speed, and also a mention of her as a theatrical dancer. The next were two clippings from a musical magazine: Paris, France, June l7, l925.-Mme. Florence Bassett gave a recital here last night which greatly delighted and charmed all lovers of music. Mme. Bassett has for two years been a pupil of Hans Richard in New York, and had the good fortune of- having two months with the world-famed . . . New York.-Miss Sallie McGee made a very successful debut at the Princess Theater last night. Page thirty eight
