O6 course, everyone lcnows Ellen, star of May Day frolics and Christmas carols. She is jolly and popular, and also holds the unique position of having discovered the route to Miss Shailer's favor. Ellen possesses decided vocal talent and is song leader of the class and of the school. She has dramatic ability, which has led her to make expression her major subject. She held prominent parts in the June play and in the senior play acquitted herself with fame. She plays basketball and swims as well, and dances beautifully. We see her happily pursuing her heart- smashing career to a successful end. tw W .1 1 v 'ai' '19 0 m ,EI cj MARJORIE CARDWELL Louisville, Ky. Chairman of Rell Ci-oss: President ol' Literary Societyg Class Basketball Tr-am. '21. Men, not marks, have been my aim. We are not so well acquainted with Mar- jorie, as she came to us only this year, but it can be safely said that she is one of the most charming members of her class. If she undertakes a thing she is sure to back it to the end, and she is far from being a slaclcer when it comes to bright ideas. Marjorie is a musician of no little ability, and who could fail to get pep at the sound of her wonderful jazzn? She also plays basketball and taltes an active part in all school activi- ties. Life will be a smooth pathway for her, but it will not spoil her. nl 'O -1 Page llvenly

'21g Business Manager ot' Ath- letic Association: Cast of the Senior Play, '21, A smile for all, a welcome glad, Axfovial coaxing may she had. Was there ever a jollier pal or better sport than our Virge? She wears a broad smile for every occasion, and her antics soon bring smiles to other people's flaces, too. She has chosen expression for her major subject and bids fair to being very successful in it. She starred in last year's june play, and in Quality Street and on other occasions her talent has been demonstrated. However, we fail to see Virgaleen behind the footlights. More likely behind a cookstove in a neat little kitchen-and not such a little kitchen either, or it won't hold Virge. Page nineteen :Bef .1 REBECCA BREVARD Murfreesboro, Tenn. Roses ramble o'er her cheeks, Sunlight has kissed her hair. Having survived the rigors of French B and French IV, to say nothing of physics and chemistry, Rebecca is surely well pre- pared to meet the hardships of life. She is full of fun and seldom worries over anything longg but it's safer to keep away if she is worried. She is prominent in athletics, especially basketball, and takes part wherever she is needed in any activ- ity. Being a ministers daughter, she may spend part of her future helping her fa- ther pay parochial visits, but we feel safe in saying that she won't spend all her days in this way.

We may live without money, without friendship and books, But civilized man cannot live without cooks. Mary Lewis is about the most versatile member of the class. She is especially domestic and majors in home economics, but at the same time she studies hard, takes part in all school activities, and is a member of the Red basketball team. She is a good conversationalist and is blessed with a keen sense of humor. Never will we forget her famous point- less jokes, or her ability to tell them. She and Noel have been able managers of the tea room. We see Mary Lewis in the future using all oft her home ec. knowl- edge to care for a modem bungalow. Page twenty-one ' ' :Egg -.
