Uaflu GM There is just never a slow moment, sighed secretary lda Mul- len. This well qualified and courteous staff of eleven had the difficult and often tedious job of seeing that the school ran smoothly and efficiently. These helpful ladies were located in various parts of the building doing tasks ranging from processing the number and percent of absent stu- dents daily, weekly, and monthly to setting up counselor appointments and keeping track of textbooks. They kept busy filing, typing, taking inven- tory, answering telephones and even decorating the offices for the appropri- ate holidays. But most of all they helped students, teachers, staff mem- bers and parents with the everyday emergencies that occured. r Fujikaw 1. Our function is to set the policy for the district, and the administration runs it accordingly, commented Sandy Dunn, school board president. School board members sawed for four years, but half the board was re- elected every two years. The five members duties included hiring staff, approving curriculum and the tough job of distri uting, the budget of thirty million dollars. he budget was appropriated as wages for teach- ers and custodians, paying utilities, funding special programs and the remodeling of several schools. Mr. Howe further expressed that with this plan they then tried to 'tmake the system work tor the kids. Heading toward a final goal of learn- ing independence, students worked at their own speed and individual ability, Academic Adjustment was estab- lished to help students with the three basic classes, reading, social studies, and math, ln this program, the main emphasis was teaching the students what they needed to learn.
