Our function is to set the policy for the district, and the administration runs it accordingly, commented Sandy Dunn, school board president. School board members sawed for four years, but half the board was re- elected every two years. The five members duties included hiring staff, approving curriculum and the tough job of distri uting, the budget of thirty million dollars. he budget was appropriated as wages for teach- ers and custodians, paying utilities, funding special programs and the remodeling of several schools. P o U69 Did you get to know your counselor? Many students thought that their counselors sole purpose was helping them sign up for classes, while others did not even get to know their counse- lors at all. Still, many more received a great deal of help and assistance with their problems. The counselors assisted pupils in making the right class choices, and helped seniors take the right entrance tests and choose the right college or after high school job. Along with the hard work, the coun- selors truly enjoyed their jobs. Pam Shiltz expressed, The favorite aspect of my work is helping someone with a problem of concern they have, and seeing something l have done become worth while. K, Pollard 1. This well qualified and courteous staff of eleven had the difficult and often tedious job of seeing that the school ran smoothly and efficiently. These helpful ladies were located in various parts of the building doing tasks ranging from processing the number and percent of absent stu- dents daily, weekly, and monthly to setting up counselor appointments and keeping track of textbooks. They kept busy filing, typing, taking inven- tory, answering telephones and even decorating the offices for the appropri- ate holidays. But most of all they helped students, teachers, staff mem- bers and parents with the everyday emergencies that occured. r Fujikaw 1.
