The sale of magazines also added to our treasury. The Juniors worked hard to raise enough money to sponsor a prom which would be memorable to all who attended. 57 Debra Abston John Alexander Jim Ansley Jill Anstine Julie Bailey Lois Bailey Carol Baldridge Barb Baughman Bob Baum Pam Baum Jenny Beach Christine Beckley Pat Biddinger Tom Bidwell Phil Binkley Sue Black Rick Bloom Gary Blume Wanda Bonadio Bev Born Bob Boyle Laurie Brehm Dean Brim Brenda Burba Connie Burchel Marylin Burton Charlie Byers Lou Ann Byers Fay Byers Bruce Cahill 58 SOPHOMORES CLASS OFFICERS - John Steinman, President; Kathy Settlage, Vice-President; Pam Rigel, Secretary; Dick Pope, Treas. ROW 2: Becky Broske, Mr. lams Adviser, Carol Simon, Editor, Sue Mullady, Greg Temple, Kathy Settlage, Laurie Brehm, Kathy Sorgen. This year the Echo Staff worked hard to get all the millions (so it seems), of things done to produce this year’s yearbook. Pictures were taken, sorted, lost, and found again, and in the end they were compiled into this book. Special effort has been taken to improve the quality of pictures, and their arrangement on the pages. All in all, we think it is a pretty good yearbook, and we hope that in years to come you will enjoy it even more. 72 74 THE ECHOETTE STAFF ROW 1: Mrs. Hackney, C. Ralston, B. Wielinski, B. King, T. Bloom. ROW 2: J. Litzenberg, M. Dulin, D. Clinger, T. Roberts, A. Gardner. ROW 3: L. Scharf, J. Laymryi, G. Flinn, J. Wahl, J. Leoffert. The Echoette is published each six weeks by these stalwart would-be keepers of the journalistic profession. Very seldom do we appreciate their efforts. So we would like to thank the staff and their advisor, Mrs. Hackney, for trying their best. This year in two issues the Echoette contained photographs. Let's hope the 1971 issues may be even better. 76 STUDENT COUNCIL SEATED: Mark Ehlen, Vice-President; Larry Scharf, President; Chris Rose. ROW ONE: B. Constock, M. Bernard, S. Dennis, L. Teeters, K. The Kenton Wildcats ran wild in 1969. The leadership, determination and pride exhibited by the 18 seniors enabled Kenton to enjoy its second win- ning season in 21 years. The Cats finished at 9-1, outscoring their opponents 304-96. They also broke or tied 8 school records. Many honors were re- ceived, both for the team and individuals. Kenton was ranked 18th in the state (AP), 8th in N.W. Ohio (Toledo Blade), and 3rd in Limaland (Lima News). The Wildcats also had a record number of 13 boys on the all-WBL squad, four (Jim Wells, Bob Culver, Bob Rigel, and Randy Patton) on the All- State team, and two (Patton, Rigel) nominated for the North-South All-Star game. Patton, who will play in that game, was also named the Outstanding Player in District 9. Kenton's seniors have also been offered over $180,000 in scholarship aid, putting the perfect climax on an outstanding season. 104 ROW 1: D. Glock, D. Reel, C. Nicely, C. Rose, D. Roby, R. Bloom, G. With a cheery smile, and a wave of the hand, She has wandered into an unknown land. And left us dreaming how very fair It needs must be, since she lingers there. And you - O you, who the wildest yearn For the old time step and glad return. Think of her faring on, as dear In the love of there as in the love of here; Think of her still as the same, I say: She is not dead - she is just away! - James Whitcomb Riley 152 QUILL AND SCROLL JEFF WAHL Echoette Editor CAROL SIMON Echo Editor SUE MULLADY Circulation GREG TEMPLE Echo Photographer PETER MILLER Echo Photographer 153 r A STUnMing new devetopme. There were a lot of things that made this year stand out though .., our winning football team, our new bookstore, our new principal, the com- mons, and much more. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Harold Musser of The.Kenton Times for his help and for letting us use his pictures. To Ann Dunez - thanks for taking the homecoming picture. To Mr. Murray, thanks for being so cooperative, and to Mr. lams, our adviser, thanks for putting up with us this year. Well, it's time to close. Someday when you’re thinking back to your high school days, whether “good,” or bad,” and you want to check your memory and see the picture of that good-looking guy with your name be- side it, haul out this book from the closet, a box or wherever you last stashed it, and walk again through the halls of KSH 1970. 160 -rv
