District Scholarship Team District Scholarship Competitive Examinations For many years groups of three scholars represent the academic classes in competi- tive examinations usually held at Ohio Northern University on the first Monday in May. This year those Seniors who wore the colors of KHS were: Physics: Bill Branan, J. P. Fox, Greg Schneider; Senior Social Studies: Dick Cannode, Lou Ann Fitzpatrick, Karen Wine- brenner; Bookkeeping: Betty Harrison, Don Keller, Ed Twiss; English XII: Ann Chalfin, Ellen Lady, Lois Shroyer; Algebra II: Jerry Althauser, Pat Fillinger, Elmer Wells (Junior Class). The Junior Classes were represented in these classes given below: American History: Bill Buss, Clair McCullough, Dennis Mack; Chemistry: Jim Faulkner, Jack Gordon, Adelaide Sampselle; English XI: Cheryl Hill, Judy Orsbom, Heather Spencer-Green. Sophomores generally competed in the groups next listed. English X: Phyllis Gordon, Nancy Shick, Mary Lou Wells; World History: Tom Mullins, Jim Stone, Dwight Washburn; Plane Geometry: Doug DeWar, Bill Rapp, Charles Steinman; Latin II: Sharon Ewing, Ellen Kaylor, Margaret Shaw; Biology: Linda Black and Tom Black, Harald Wyndham (both Freshmen). The Freshmen in KHS making their first such trip were in high spirits. Their classes were: General Science: Jim Garvin, David Harp, J. W. Thomas; Algebra I: Tom Oates, Pamela Williams, Neil Wykes; English IX: Mile Bernard, John Faulkner, Bob Grimes; and Latin I: Jane Chidester, Joan Overly, Judy Wahl. The students were accompanied to the tests by Carl Russell, Dean of Boys and Mr. Claude Stober. The final results showed that the following were Honorable Mention in the State of Ohio with the place in the Bowling Green State University District shown after the name and sub- ject: Mary Lou Wells (1) English X; Adelaide Sampselle (3) Chemistry; Harald Wyndham (5) Biology; Betty Harrison (11); Thomas Oates (12) Algebra I; Lois Shroyer (13) English XII; Tom Black (13) Biology. James Faulkner placed only 15th in BGSU District in Chemis- try. 12
