National iBnnnr oriety of rronftitrtj rhoolo The se lection of sixteen members of the Class of 1955 to active membership in the National Honor Society marks the eighteenth group of Seniors to be so honored since the institution of the Simon Kenton Chapter in 1938. Selection is made from the upper-third of the scholastic standing of the entire class. Only 15% of the class may be selected for the NHS. From the upper-third students rated each other upon the basis of leadership, character, and service. All the members of the faculty voted their preferences based upon student courtesy in man- ners, respect for the dignity of school instruction, and for the respect for the best traditions of the Kenton High School. Leadership inschool and community activities is achieved mainly by force of a magnetic personality, unwavering sincerity, and devotion to duty. Courtesy in manners, respect for the digni ty of authori ty, leadership and service in student and community affairs, combined with high scholarship have always been the mark of student honor.
