During our four years at Kenton High we have striven on an ever-enduring quest, for a precious treasure of life-Knowledge. We have gained memories that shall not soon be forgotten. Leaving our high school, we hope that we can carry on the civic traditions of our forefathers and show leadership worthy of our heritage. And we shall not forget in flight Our dear colors - Red and White. CHORUS Then hail, hail, hail to our school so grand. The one for which we truly stand; And hail, hail, hail to our colors so bright. To our dear colors - Red and White! We win our victories and our fame. We take defeat but never blame. And we will fight with all our might For our dear colors - Red and White. CHORUS For four long years of toil and strife The happiest years of all our life. And we shall think with memories bright Of our dear colors - Red and White. KIRKLAND CO. Miss Catherine Lens of the faculty was chosen to be an honorary member. Jlrice funeral jierfrice CLASS HISTOfiy Of 1953 The years spent here with you, Kenton High, have marked four interesting but valuable chapters to each one of us as we are about to step out into life itself, thus drawing to a close Part I in our book of life and beginning Part II. The first chapter began in September of 1949, as one hundred and fourteen Greenies became a part of Kenton High. Keeping up with the class tradition, we elected the class officers. They were: Dick Jones, President; Roger Frost, Vice- President; and Barbara Weston, Secretary. Then came the second chapter as we have slowly climbed up the ladder. Election time rolledaroundagain. Thisyearwe elected: ClayFlinn, President; Janet Williams, Vice-President; Mary Lou Wedertz, Secretary. At last we upper classman and quite proud of the fact, too. With prominenceand responsibility of our position, we chose this year: Barbara Baker, President; Barbara Weston, Vice-President; and James Rodgers, Secretary. This year is the big year too and the one in which we gave the Junior-Senior Prom. The theme of the prom was Oriental Gardens . We earlier presented the Junior Play Seventeenth Summer. The leads were played by Barbara Weston, and Joe Clark. Miss Marjorie Ramge directed the play. Now in the fourth and last chapter we are Seniors. Many of us have longed for this and now that the time has come we were not sure if we did want to leave the school. Yet, now that it has been completed and we look back upon the wonderful times we had throught our four years at Kenton High, many of us lost confidence and dis- liked to see our school days end. We chose for our Senior Class officers: Joan Kerns, President; Joe Clark, Vice- President; and Janet Arn, Secretary-Treasurer. The Senior participants in the Student Council were: Joan Kerns, Pat Hiatt, Janet Williams, Barbara Baker, Mary Lou Wedertz, Dick Jones, Mary Decker, Roger Frost, Sue Robinson, Gene Haudenschield, and Nelson Gaskins (we dominated it by numbers). The SeniorClass play was Father of the Bride with the leads going to Charlotte Durkin and Don Jones. The director was Miss Isabel Sloan. With the closing fourth year and thus ending Part I in our book of life. Now we look forward to a happy and prosperous future in Part II of our life. COMPLIMENTS OF KENTON SAVINGS BANK MEMBER OF F. SEIII0II PLfly ‘‘fflTHER Of THE BRIDE” On November 20th and 21st, the Senior Class of 1953 presented a three-act comedy entitled Father of the Bride. The play was written by Edward Streeter and was directed by Miss Isabel Sloan. The story revolved around Mr. Banks (Don Jones), who thought his daughter was still in pigtails, and was very concerned about her future since she was about to be married. Kay Banks (Charlotte Durkin), hisdaughter, was constantly in hot water trying to please Buckley Dunstan (David Gi Ibert), who wanted a small wedding and her mother, Ellie Banks (Joan Kerns), who wanted a large and elaborate wedding for her daughter. Ben and Tommy Banks, played by Roger Frost and Dick Arn, were the two sons who were very bored with the whole affair. Shirley Sparr, protrayed Peggy Swift who was Ben's fiance' and is just dying to getmarried. Betty Ziegler played the petite maid, Delilah, while Dick Hatchett handled the part of Buzz, Tommy's friend. Janet Arn protrayed Miss Bellamy, Mr. Bank's very prim secretary, and Janet Hare played the effer- vescent Mrs. Massoula the caterer. Other Characters were; Mrs. Pulitzki, the dressmaker, Connie Johanson, Joe Clark played Mrs. Massoula's helper, Janet Willeke who helped with the enterior decorating and Red and Pete, the furniture movers, were played by John Gradwohl and Tom Staudenheimer who rolled the carpets and carried furniture in a most realistic manner. Hail to the Queen, were the words that rang out over the K.H.S. football stadium on the evening of October 10 th. Riding in a Ford Convertibles, driven by RogerFrftst and Dick Jones, the queen and her attendants were greeted by everyone as they entered the football field. Captain Gene Haudenshield then presented the football to Queen Faith, as it has always been the tradition at K.H.S. for the Queen to throw the ball into the game. After the game. Queen Faith, and her attendants went to the gymnasium for the Home- coming dance where a throne beautifully decorated in red and white was awaiting them. A white carpet was unrolled. Mack Finch's orchestra sounded the melolious music, and Faith entered the room. Following the Queen, was Miss Marilyn Burris, Senior attendant; Miss Alice Parker, Junior attendant; Miss Kathleen Conner, Sophomore attendant; and Miss Saundra Thomas, Freshman attendant. Attendants were attired in brilliant dresses of red with which they wore black accessories. Miss Juanita England, queen of the previous year crowned Faith, K.H.S. Queen of 52 . Escorts for Queen and attendants were Gene Haudenschield, Captain, Nelson Gaskins, Jim Hogan, Merle Highland, and Frank Haudenschield. Mack Finch and his orchestra provided music from ten p.m. to one a.m. JAY SHAWVER THE SOUTH KENTON POULTRY FARM HATCHERY Incorporated Plumbing Wiring Baby Chicks BOYD W.
