A Day in the Life On October 1 , 1 980, Chestnut Burr photographers were sent out to photograph ' a day in the life ' of Kent and KSU. Their goal was to capture on film the moments which make the city and the university special. The day was chosen at random. Photographers started tak- ing pictures at midnight on October 1 and stopped at midnight on October 2. They covered all areas of the city and the cam- pus. It was impossible to photograph everything that happened during that 24-hour period, even though more than 1500 photo- graphs were taken. And due to space limitations, it was impossi- ble to use all the photographs. What appears on the following pages, then, are the images which the staff feels are the most memorable. There are unique images of the campus. Architecture can take on more meaning when you take the time to examine the way light strikes it. But Kent is more than buildings. It is people. It is the people who spend their time pursuing education. It is the people who unwind after a hard day of work. Personalities are what make the university interesting. Photos by Dave Maxwell 24
