T 'G-5-Q! Xs SS Lowry hall, built in 1912, was the first of the three dormitories on cam- pus. An addition was made to the building in 1937. It was named for one of the state legislators who signed the bill marking the beginning of Kent State normal school. Now used as a freshmen wornen's residence hall, Lowry houses 114 students in single and double rooms and suites. It is also the site of the University dining halls and kitchens. McGilvre Hall KSU's modern, million-dollar science hall is named for Dr. John E. McGilvrey, first president of the Normal school. The building was completed in 1940. McGilvrey hall's four fioors contain lecture rooms, laboratories. offices and libraries. Housing approxi- mately 90 students, it is now occupied solely by freshman Women. Its music and assem- bly room is the scene of many meetings, dances and other so- cial functions. The University infirmary, which is segregated from the remainder of the building, is in the north end of the hall. 'S
