Officers of Student Council for 1955-1954 were: Ann Moser, president, Ellen Smith, secretaryg Susan Cleary and Mary Tracy, vice-presidents, and Mallory Hicks and Betty King, assistant secretaries. Miss Elizabeth Wilcox and Miss Elizabeth Hummel were the faculty advisors. This year the council emphasized, through the Friday meetings, the responsibility of each girl toward the group. Also, more active participation of the students in these meet- ings was encouraged. As the first project of the year, the council sponsored a mixer party in the fall. As her ticket of admission, each girl was required to wear a large sign, telling her name and class. Each class presented a skit, and a prize for the best was awarded to the sophomores. The practice of having seniors lead the Tuesday and Wednesday morning assemblies was continued, Other students accompanied the hymn singing. Fin! ww: V. Teller, Seager, Tracy. CKCL55 Song Tune: One Litlle Candle Kent Place, your light leads us onward, Bringing hope in years to come. When the day is dark and dreary And the way is hard to find, Our hearts will not be weary For we'll have this thought in mind: If we walk in the light of that one little candle, We won't stumble in the darkg Though the road that we travel may often be lonely, There will always be that spark. We think, Kent Place, now as we sadly leave Of mem'ries and friendships that never will Hee. And with these thoughts treasured deep in What a bright world this will be. Walk on in the light of that candle- Why stumble on in the dark? our hearts, Kent Place, your light will lead us foward, Bring hope in future years. It will shine for us, guiding us onward, Always quieting our fears. You have taught us to do what is right fro Remembering your ideals now we depart. Cle0 Les THE MASKERS Maskers' activities this year began with appraisals of pantomimes and sketches given by members. Next came the annual play given at the Middle School Fair, this year McMullen's The Gbort in the Green Gown. Maskers' next event was a lecture on make-up by Mrs. Cross of Summit. A part of her lecture that the members found particularly interesting was a demonstration of how to transform a teen-age girl into an elderly spinster or a glamorous socialite. A highlight of the winter term was Maskers' production of Horton Foote's A Young Lady of Property. The play was directed entirely by Maskers' president Cleo Leston, Miss Hope Corken, advisor to the club, directed the annual spring production. Maskers' other ofhcers were: Barbara Davison, treasurer, Gay Hart, Hrst term vice-president, judy Hover, second term vice-president, Gretchen Schneckenburger, first term secretary, Diane Hilton, second term secretary.
