Freshmen Class History Feeling lost and bewildered, was the state in which the class of '59 entered Kent-Meridian Junior High School as lowly eighth graders. New experiences were in store for us, but we soon got on the right path, full speed ahead, stopping only for extra-curricular activities. Leaders in this eighth year of our student life were John Tweeten, Student Body vice president, Jan Ket- chum and Jan Braunschweig, cheerleaders. With these cheerleaders we helped boost our team to victory. One big event in this phase of student life was the Junior H1 Carnival. Each home room sponsored a booth John Tweeten and Donna McIntyre were the eighth grade candidates for King and Queen. The Girls Club Tolo was a big and bran new experi- ence. The theme of this dress-up dance was 'One Enchan- ted Eveningn. Twin Day, Clash Day and White Shirt Day led up to the Tolo. f'Upperclassmen' sounded pretty good to us as we be- gan our freshman year. This year we knew our way around and d1dn't get lost. Leaders from our class this year were John Tweeten, Student Body presidentg Susan Wiokland, Student Body secretary-treasurerg Darlene Anderson, Girls Club presi- dentg Dave Sawyer, Boys Club presidentg Jan Braunschweig Susan Wickland, Kay Koski, Pam Thompson, Cheerleadersg Kathy Van Alstine, Donna Mclntyrs, and Karen Kipper, song leaders. At the Junior Hi Carnival, Pam Thompson and John Tweeten, our freshman candidates, were chosen King and Queen. 'Heart's Delightn was the theme of the Girls Club Tolo this year. Leading up to it were Smile Day, Good Manners Day, Twin Day, Clash Day, and White Shirt Day. The Mother's Tea sponsored by the Girls Club and the Freshman Frolic are the two big events left in our last year of Junior High. ..9..
