At the home opener in which the Royals sank the Vikings' Schooner to the tune of I3-7, fans saw the dedication of the new 5l00,000 steel and concrete stadium to veteran Coach Claude French. On the next cruise to Evergreen it looked like clear weather ahead until the Wolverines pulled out a sneaky 7-6 score. Another squall hit as Franklin Pierce dunked the Royal eleven by launching a last minute touchdown to make it 20-14. This was undoubtedly our poorest effort of the year, sighed the skipper after the 14-0 loss to Renton. But the outlook brightened in time for K-M to smash the Enumclaw Hornets with a 24-7 Homecoming victory.
