FOOTBALL Coach Claude French called his Vandal grid warriors tor the twenty-third consecutive season- School spirit came through to uphold the morale ot the tootball team although it won only two and tied one ot the nine games played. Highlight ot the season was the regaining ot the Taylor Trophy in a thrilling 8-6 victory over our traditional rival. Auburn. This was the Red and Gray eleverfs tirst conterence victory in two ears. Y Vandals battled the tough Fite gridsters to an O-O tie in the only pre-season game. Playing host to the annual Jamboree, Kent was deteated by Sumner, 6-O. ln the Conterence opener the Vandals were again trounced by Sumner, l3-7- Kent's score was made on a I6 yard reverse, Pozzi to Arai. The Vandals were handed setbaclcs in their next tive games by Puyallup, Renton, Enumclaw, Buckley, and l-lighline- The next two games were wins over Auburn. The Thanksgiving day tinal was teatured by a spectacular 60 yard run by Ray Franks tor the games only score- The squad was hit hard by graduation ot thirteen seniors. Players who will be mustered out by commencement are Captain Wilson, Madison, Leber, Franlcs, Pozzi, Larson, l-tarn, Crain, Mor- gan, lv1cKonlcey, Engstrom, Mitchell, and Loop- Arlie Sorenson, junior end, was given second team all-conterence honors.
