Echo Kenston's newspaper is published approximately once very two weeks and distributed to over 200 sub- scribers. The purpose of me Q-:Q-Q and its volunteer staff is to keep the school informed on what is hap- pening in the school - its sports, clubs, and social activities. Feature articles and editorials to amuse, entertain, and provoke thought are also a regular part of each issue. A special memorial issue was published this year commemorating the death of President Kennedy. The money raised from the sale of this issue QS41. 753 was sent to the Geauga County Opportunity School for Retarded Children to be used as they felt would best benefit the school. 78 Editors and Advisor, L-R: J. To be eligible, a student must have maintained at least a B average throughout his high school years. In addition to excelling in scholastic achievement, a member of the National Honor Society must also be outstanding in the fields of leadership, character and service. Each spring new members are inducted at a special school assembly and then honored at a banquet sponsored by the senior members, their par- ents, and the group advisors, Mr. Ellis Duitch, Mr. Samuel Griffith, and Mr. Fred Klaisner. 77

The American Field Service club serves an im- portant purpose in the school district, Now in its second year, the club assists the adults' A,F,S, Chap- ter in raising money and selecting students to be con- sidered for Americans Abroad Scholarships. The club helps to promote world wide understanding through school assemblies, A,F,S, dinners and other social gatherings. The organization meets once a month and is open to all Kenston students. 79
