This year's staff was no exception as they gathered photographs, sought adver- tisements, and wrote suitable materials, all in the shadow of that incessant deadline. A yearbook, however, should be more than just a bound collection ofadvertisements, photographs, and writing. ln it should be captured the spirit of young people, who in combination with their outstanding faculty and administration, make our school what it is. In this yearbook we hope that you will find the greatness that exists inside the walls of our school captured inside the pages of this 1963 KENSTONIAN. PIZINCIPAI-'Q MESSAGE May I take this opportunity to extend greetings to all the students of Kenston High School. To the Seniors particularly, I would like to extend my best wishes for your fu- ture undertakings, whatever they may be. A Yearbook represents the ef- forts ofa few members of the school to capture and preserve for all of us the many and varied activities of the school. Ihope you will enjoy this opportunity to reflect upon the past school year. Perhaps you may someday come to treasure this yearbook, since it offers you an op- portunity to relive many happy and enjoyable experiences at Kenston High School. Again, my best wishes to you always. . N55 In ,Mag g ' bf A' ' Fred E. The caliber of our high school has been determined by your self-discipline and devotion to the school tasks. I com- mend each student who has developed fully according to his potential. Life in the Space Age is complex and it demands quali- ty, moral fibers, and competencies. HEAD CUSTODIAN - Mr. Crowley An integral part of an education are those who care for our physical bodies by preparing our dinners, and those who see that the physical plant is clean and cheerful. Kenston's cooks and custodians do these well. Thank you. There she is! I use Colgate and chew Dentyne! Is that all? Careful, now, Danny! A nd in my hands A penny for her thoughts. These students have, we advisors hope, nurtured and develop- ed into citizens ready to take up the challenge of the space age. Our hopes go with each. Good luck to each of you. The many activities through the past five years--candy sales, Sweetheart Dance, Homecoming, Junior Prom, Senior Prom, and Commencement--have helped to make new friend ships and strengthened old ones by working together, playing together, and most of all learning together. Each small task, each committee or class meeting has played an impor- tant part in making graduation and adulthood a reality. X .M-sz., gf , 335 14 5 F ig! s 2,55 Q in t . When the fifteen eager Ken- stonian members met in the fall of 1962 with advisors, Mr. Hall and Miss Puscher, they decided that the 1963 Kenstonian was going to be the biggest and best yearbook ever produced. Through the guidance ofthe staff's advisors, the tedious jobs of selling advertisements and subscriptions to students, taking pictures, looking for candid shots, writing copy, and drawing layouts were made easier. Throughout the year, the ever-reminding deadline hung over the staff's heads. The 1963 Yearbook never would have been finished if it hadn't been for the watchful eyes of the advisors. Through sweat, toil, and concentration, we, the Yearbook Staff are proud to present the 1963 Kenstonian. We hope that everyone will cherish this book as we will cherish our yearbook experiences A D V I S O IZ S MR. KENSTONIAN STAFF takes a holiday Perhaps one of the hardest jobs is to produce a bimonthly school paper. The members of the Echo Staff and its advisor, Mrs. Rosemary Jividen, are no exceptions to the rule. Unlike a yearbook staff that usually has one editor-in-chief, a school newspaper staff must have many editors. Not only does the 1962-1963 Echo Staff of Kenston consist of layout editors, gossip editors, sports editors, etc. , but typists and volunteer workers are needed to produce an interesting and acceptable paper. The Echo Staff at Kenston has done its job well in presenting to the student body and faculty up-to-date, accurate, and ' eye-catching news. The duties of a Y-Teen member are numerous. For instance, a member must try to better himself and try to improve his school as best as he can. A member must respect the judg- ment of others and strive to further the fellowship of man. A1- though there is work involved for a member of Y-Teens, there is also fun. Swimming parties, slumber parties, and dances are the rewards for a Y-Teen member. Here, at Kenston High, the Y-Teens have sponsored many twist hops after football and basketball games. Any girl from grades 9-12 may join Y-Teens. The Y-Teens at Kenston hope that in the future, they will become bigger and better. They hope to sponsor projects that will firmly establish their organiza- tion within the bonds of Kenston High School. Y TEENS 7147 llL 'L me-ill Qt 551551, N 'W dfll'-at A AJ-2.9 FIRST ROW: N.
