CLASS PROPHECY One evening in the year of 1969 my guests and I were watching a television quiz program. During the evening we decided to send our names in to see if one of us would be selected for the program. The following week I received a telephone call from the manager of the station, JIM SUPIK, saying I had been chosen to be a contestant on the show. In a few days I arrived in New York and was ready to appear on the program. Nervously I waited back- stage for the show to begin when I realized the ca- meraman looked very familar. I then recognized him to be PETE PARKER and he told me that the Master ofCeremonies,Comedian DON HALE, would soon arrive. Don was late because he was bailing the stations top bookkeeper, MARJORIE DANFORTH, out of jail. It seems Marjorie had made a typing mistake and had awarded last weeks winner, DAVE STOUT, a million dollars instead of a thousand. Well Don finally arrived and the show began. I was amazed at how easy the questions were and to my surprise I found I had won a trip to Europe. The big day arriveld and as my plane left for Europe I waved goodbye to my friends. Some of my former classmates who had come to see me off were JIM KIZAK, one of the richest men in the world, his secretary CLARICE TATULINSKI, GARY SLA- VIK, a lawyer, DICK STOTLAR, a salesman, and DICK MULGREW, who was now a world famous poet. As the plane left the airport on its way to Europe the stewandesses, JUDY PFOUTS and ALYCE ANDER- SON, pointed out some of the passengers on the plane. They encluded LYNN SMITH, the world champion lady wrestler, DICK TRITT, a. famous bookie who was leaving the country for various reasons, and BILL GREEN, a civil engineer. They also told me the pilot MARK SAITER, and his co-pilot BRUCE ROL- LAND, has just completed 100 hours of flight. A few hours later we arrived in London, England. I just had time enough to attend a concert by the famous concert pianist SHIRLEY HUFF. After the performance I visited with Shirley who told me that JANET ACKLEY was now a bookkeeper and living in London also. On the way back to the hotel I spotted PEGGY BARNARD and GWEN GOFF, both nurses at London Memorial Hospital. During the next few days I visited Scotland Yard where I found EDDY RY- BICKI, the Chief of Police. I also visited Bucking- ham Palace where I talked with JIM SKALA, head of the Palace guards. Jim said that BOBBIE HAGUE also lived in London. She was now the owner of Hague's Reducing Salon. Buckingham Palace was also the home of FRANCES DINES, who was the Queen's top hairdresser. After visiting London I flew to the fabulous town of Paris. I visited POLLY HOWE, who was now a model. She told me the beautiful clothes she was wearing were designed by CAROLYN SILL, one of the top designers in Paris. I also saw MARCIA WANAMAKER and BARBARA BOGDANY, two top models who were modeling in a fashion show. In a Paris cafe I bumped into MARTHA WILDE, who was drawing advertisements for the fiuieral home she and DAVE PFOUTS owned. Martha told me she was expecting a visit from KAREN F RITZ, owner of Fritz's Beauty Salon. The next stop on my trip was Spain. I arrived just in time to see MARY BROWN make her debut as a bullfighter in a brand new arena owned by DENNIS FOX. Sitting next to me at the bullfight was KEN LARUE, a top scientist. Ken told me he had just identified NOLAN Rl-IEA as the Unidentified Flying Object that had been scaring Spain for some time. It seems Nolan had invented a small missile and had experimented at night scaring some people who thought it was a flying saucer. During my visit to Spain I had a chance to see a stock car race. The race was won by JUDY HOFFMAN, the worlds great- est woman stock car driver. Judy and her mechanic, DOROTHY UNGER, had won over 25 racing trophies. My continental tour over I boarded a ship for home. Also headed for the states were CARRYNN BLEYL, a riding instructor, GEOFF I-IUTCHINGS, an accountant, and his secretary LINDA CLINE, BAR- BARA GROCHOCKI, who was going home to Ken- tucky where she owned a mink farm, CAROL ELCO, a stenographer, and STEVE FERENCIE, who was on vacation from his job as Santa Claus at I-Iighbes. Steve told me that he was also going to visit BOB JANOSKO, who just loved his job as house mother at a girls' sorority house at Ohio University. On my way home I stopped at Annapolis. There I found BOB HAMILTON, a Latin professor, BRUCE LINDOW, an English professor, and DAISY RIT- CHIE, an Algebra professor. They told me that JUDY FRISCHKORN was band director and BAR- BARA NAU and LOUISE DAYTON had been trum- pet players in the band. They also said their next football game was with West Point where GAYLE GASTEMIRE had been head majorette and JIM COSTELLO was now the head coach. With my travels over I arrived home after my fabulous trip abroad. To my surprise I realized I had visited the entire class of '59. My, it certainly is a small world, isn't it? 23 'i 'Uhnq.,,, ,. , f 4 3, 7 TOP--Left to Right Hague D ayton Lindow Tatulinski Gafford Saiter Brown D. Pfouts Dines J. Bill Camella and Bill Grattino fbig seniors! ,were D.J.'s. We spent S13.88. That was all right, since our treasury contained S57.60. Bob Hamilton launched his four-year career as our efficient treasurer, secretary was Alyce An- derson, vice president was Judy Frischkom, and our first and last girl president was Carolyn Sill. The year ended with a frantic rain-soaked hayride. SUPERIOR SOPHOMORES '56-'57 We started the year off with a bank roll of fI5160.14. This was a money making year! The first project was selling screwdrivers--quite profitable! Next, pom- poms Qhand-made by clumsy Sophomoresjwere sold at basketball games. March 8 was the date of the great Winter-Spring Sophomore Fling. More money-- S32.89. Officers for this year were president Steve Ferencie, vice president Bruce Rolland, secretary Polly Howe, and treasurer Bob Hamilton. JUNIOR YEAR '57-'58 With all thoughts directed toward giving the greatest Prom in the history of K.H.S., our Junior year began. After the greatly anticipated arrival of class rings, plans were laid for the Foot- ball Fling. The dance was successful fnaturallyj with Specs Howard as D.J. A scrap metal drive occupied several months time, due to fluxuating steel prices, we netted S150. Junior year officers worked hard. They were: President Steve Ferencie, vice president Bob Janosko, secretary Carolyn Sill, and Old Faithful Bob Hamilton as treasurer. Money, money, money! The 3rd Annual Pancake Supper was a huge undertak- ing, but lots of funf?j The class never worked so hard on a project before or since. It was worth it! We had S1263.63. The Prom, Twilight Time, was a wonderful reward for our efforts, and a fitting farewell to the Class of '58. SENIOR YEAR '58-'59 We made it! This was the year to have fun and relax, which we did. Amazing what Seniors get away with! The biggest problem was what to do with our 25500. Mr. Hettinger, our new principal, solved the problem by buying a movie camera! With ten Senior football lettermen we had a great year. The year ended with us second in the county. Most Valuable Player was Steve Ferencie, Most Improved Player was Bob Janosko, and The Best Player Pound for Pound was Bill Green. Carolyn Sill was elected Homecoming Queen, with Alyce Anderson, Peggy Barn- ard, and Polly Howe as attendants. From then on everything went fast. It was hard to believe everything we did was for the last time. Mrs. Kuhn's office was always filled with college hopefuls. Senior pictures arrived. We measured for caps and gowns. The halfway point was reached--those grim exams! ! Basketball season came and went. Nothing was left but to look forward to the Prom and Graduation, and plans for a Senior weekend. The Senior Class of '59 bids adieu to their gallant advisers, Miss Lois Hurd, and Mr. Albert Fiorini, and to all the memories of Kenston High School. Class Motto: The Best ever! In the eyes of both the coaches and players, Kenston had an ex- tremely successful 1958 season. The Bombers 4 and 4 season record was more than what was ex- pected at the out-set of the season--the team having a line average of only 155 pounds and a backfield average of 150 pounds. Coach Schrock feels that the desire to win, interest, and good leadership accounted for the season's accomplishment. He is quoted in saying, I hope that the Seniors have set a precedent that will contribute to the future success of the Kenston team. With crowd cheering, band playing, and a bomber flying over- head, the four candidates entered the field. An expectant hush fell over the crowd as the girls were escorted out of the cars.
