On all the seven seas, men of all nationalities, in both the Navy and the Mer- chant Marine, have fought and toiled valiantly for us. A great commander once said, Don't give up the ship! and thus set a high standard of courage and endurance for all sea-faring men. So, as we chart our course, we proudly dedicate this book to all the men of the sea and raise this toast: May you sail your ships ever through calm seas until you come to port at last in the peaceful harbor of eternity!
