Senior Class Prophecy Here it is, 1954, and twelve ambitions looking graduates are about to start down the long road of life. Will they be successful? someone asks. Well, now, that's a hard question to answer, but having known them all so well through their school years l'm game to make some prophecies. First, we'll have to shift our prophetical minds, say about, fifteen years ahead to 1969. That ought to give them plenty of time to be successfully settled, we hope. Our next problem is transportation. 'Let's go by air- plane, someone suggests. Gracious, how ancient! Let's hop in my super-sonic atom powered space-mobile. Our first stop is Oklahoma. Who is that we see off in the distance? Why, it's Gordon Lambrecht, surrounded by a herd of cattle! Gordon tells us that he is a success ful cattle rancherg and in his own words he states Wal, I owe it all to the little 'missus and our thirteen kids who have pushed me on to success! ! Good luck, Gordy! May your herd Qof cattlej grow to be a million. Back to our space-mobile and zoom! Here we are in Hollywood and who do we meet on the street but Pat Krubeck! Why, we hardly recognized her The glare of the dia- monds is blinding--and who is her charming escort? You'd never guess--Eugene Briss! Pat'tells us that she and Eugene discovered that they were meant for each other --and the movies. Both are very successful stars. Isn't that simply divine? Sigh-- 'bye now, see you in the movies. While we're in the sunny state of California, let's jaunt down to Santa Anita to see the races. Oh! Look at that young man leading that beautiful black horse around. Why-- upon my word--it's none other than Buffa Ekrenl fthe man that isl. They tell us that he's made millions raising track horses and running them all over the country. Good luck in the future, Buffa, and may all your little colts grow up to be beauties! Back to our space-mobile and away. Let's see--how about going out East a while via North Dakota. We have to see how things are back home. Dear me! Look at that mo- dern, up-to-date school building they have in Kensal now! Oh--the primary grades are out for recess. Say - that teacher looks familiar! Sure enough, it's Janice Neva! We've been told that she has been named the most successful teacher in North Dakota. Congratulations, Janice and may your career continue to be as successful. There!s another new building on main street too. We've been told that Bob Goehring built it and is very prosperous in his taxidermy business. He tells us that he started his career in the back of the barn on the old home place, but that business was so abundant and his services so sought that he brought it into this fine new building. Good luck, Bob, and we hope that your stuffed animals travel to all parts of the world. We hate to leave these familiar faces and places but - back to the air. Gracious! We almost collided with that other space ship--but isn't it a beauty? You clon't say-- that belongs to Carol Spitzer, our old classmate? This is a surprise! l've heard that she teaches school in Illinois during the winter months. Well, she always did want to travel. Here's hoping She steers that ship around the leaning tower of Pisa! Her driving never was anything to brag about. Here we are in New York at last--where shall we go first? Oh, do you see that big white building over there? It is New York Hospital. How about getting a closer look? Here come three nurses. Let's ask them where Times Square is. Excuse us, but can you tell us--wait! lt's Karen, Clary, and Yvonne! Can you imagine that! We knew you went into nurses training together, but who'd think you'd still be together after fifteen years. You say you're all three superintendents at the Hospital now. Congratulations, but 'bye now. We have to move on. 16 I
