we .gznior 65466 PRESENTS a 9, e 00 'LI J Z? J SYNOPSLS lt may no longer be news when a wealthy young woman marries the family butler but when that butler puts his Wife to Work as maid in her father's home - that is news. When Iohn Colt returns to his New York apartment from a trip to Washington, he finds plenty of trouble awaiting him due to the latest of his daughter's escapades. His long-suffering Worn thin, he issues Patience an ultimatum that she accept the proposal of George Gresham whose solid substantiality he admires. Immediately following his edict', Bill Trainor comes to the house to make a complaint to Mr. Colt since due to Patience's last adventure, he is minus a job. Patience mistakes him for an applicant for the position of butler and hires him on condition that he marry her - which he agrees to delightedly. Her malicious pleasure at introducing her father to his butler son-in-law changes to consternation when she learns she is being cut off Without benefit of allowance and Bill instantly becomes, not just a man she married, but in truth a husband and forces her to abide by her agreement to be self-supporting. By subtle threats of disagreeable publicity, he engineers her into the position of maid, left vacant by lulie. His complete domination, not only of Patience but the entire family, is responsible for a series of mirth-provoking scenes. Other characters besides George, who is a sharp in business, but a flat everywhere else, are Dawn O'Day, the show girl whose speed in repartee is only exceeded by her speed on her toes - an English butler, a Bostonian Aunt and Trudy, who stumbles in and out of jobs and every where in between. ..25...
