P Mostly, the term is misused or abused by people who don't understand it. Those who confuse its true significance often casually declare a thing to be perfect when what they mean is adequate. How you react to something tells the difference. A bored sigh? Brand it adequate. But if you emit ear-splitting screams that echo for miles, you know you're into the real thing. Go ahead. So ya think you’re cool, huh? Cool: Older date Right: Looking into each other's eyes, senior Dove Etvidge and sophomore Julie LundeS find it hard to stay away from each other. Falling in love with a senior can be a pretty big task. Then again, it can be a major accomplishment in the eyes of other sophomore girts. Walking down the hat together, arm in arm. Jute and Dave find it easy to ignore os the staring and whispers around and about them. It is said, when you're in love nothing else matters, and when he's a senior and she's a sophomore, at the better. Cool: Studying Right: Granted, it wasn't senior Kathy LeCfare's at-time favorite thing to do. In fact, it was downright tough to stifle the yawns when taking on another math or grammar packet. But Kathy had a goal. A goal to get her A's — so she made the big sacrifices. She stayed home and did her homework, passed up lunch at Burger King so she could get in a few more minutes of crommmg. and then — then — she was a star ... she was one of the precious few who knew what she was doing on a test She — Kathy LeCkxe — was cool. Uncool: Younger date Lett Hearing the pitter-patter of sophomore Ben Schads thy feet, senior Mary neither turns slowly around to find her special guy behind her with a gleam h his eyes and two carnations h his hand just for her. Ben hoped this would keep his special girl happy, for he hod just spent Ns weekly allowance of $2 to keep his girl away from at the fast moving senor men. Ben had proved that dating a senior girl can be done by any sophomore, even if he can't drive. Uncool: Cheating Lett: Who says you can’t get good grades without doing your homework? Where there's a wit. there's a way. and for Tom LeCfaire there definitely was a way. Ns sister — wet. she crammed at that knowledge into her head. Not Tom. he made use of other parts of his body, as wet. Like his feet. A few wet-chosen notes printed on the bottom of his shoes, and an A couldn't be far away. But — teachers weren't bom yesterday. Tom Getting caught cheating was uncool at school and unhealthy at home. Cool: Your own car Right: A car. A necessity of He. Nobody could tet you otherwise. And a cor was a kfesaver. as wet. It saved students ike junior Kristi Wtharm from ever having to ride (gasp) the school bus. Just the thougnt of being relegated to the ranks of the common hoardes who were so unfortunate as to have to fide the bus everyday was enough to give one a bad case of the zits. And having a car gave one a high social rating, as wet. Think of the friends you always had. Kristi, could I have a ride ...? Uncool: Taking the bus Lett: To sophomore Art Sheffield, taking the bus to and from school wasn’t realty oH that bad. Who cared how you got to school? No one was going to say anything anyway. So why dd students moke such a big deal about taking the bus? Did they really have to get to school in style? Just take a look one day. and you'd find that almost everyone around you took the bus. If you thought you were uncool tor taking the bus. you were wrong Taking the bus was the only way to go. 24 Cool And Uncool
