Over the past five years, under the direction of lvlr. Daoust, it has grown from a fledg- ling club to a leader not only in our school but in Long island and New York State as well. Not just a history club , the Yorkers set up and participate in fund raisers. community service activities, andlnter-club meetings. starting with the leadership conference in the fail and leading up to the District Jamboree in the winter and the extremely popular ancihighly successful statewide convention inthe spring, held this year in Buffalo. Each year the club's members win a number of awards for hsitoryicompetitions, such as the History Bowl and the National History Day contests, as well as for club achievements and individual accompiishments. This year the Yorkers were actively involved also in raising funds for Cerebral Palsy and Down Syndrome centers, as well as in promoting both Homecoming fwhich was unfortunately rained outp and Drama Club produc- tions. in the minds of the Yorkers, school and communi- ty always come first. KEY CLUB V ,',, 1 W,-,T.1 if f ,, This years Key Club consists of over sixty members. lvlr. Wiener, in his first year as advisor, is doing a fine job organizing and helping The Key Club function both ln Kennedy High School and in The rest of Long island. The Key Club has performed various services for The community over The years and has continued To do so. This year, the Key Club has organized a basketball tournament benefitting the American Cancer Society, a drive to collect food for The United Nations Children's Fund, a blood drive, a Salvation Army fund raiser, and a scholarship drive. The Key Club is The largest club of itskind in the world existing in ten countries and having over 300,000 members. it is fitting therefore, that Key Clubs from different schools cooperate with each other. ln keeping with This spirit, many members from our school's club have participated in Key Club functions throughout the state, including the annual stateconvention on March 20-22 in Fallsburg, New York.
