Dubble tag suicides . .. secondary breaks . . . more suicide . . . defensive positioning . . . widths . . . still more suicides . . . water break. Sometimes daily practices did feel like a never ending grid, but our dedication and determination eventually paid off. We finally established ourselves as a power to be reckoned with in Nassau County. The Team posted a 9-3 record and a 13-6 overall. Students and teachers took note of the team's successes and began to support us in great numbers. They were there during our seven game winning streak, culminating in a last second victory against East Meadow and Syosset. They were there to sup- port us in East Meadow where we just failed at our gallant comeback. Eventually, they were there to share our disappointment in our playoff game against Oceanside. The Kennedy-Mepham Swim Team, only in its second year of existence, finished the season with an outstanding record of 11 wins and 6 losses. The team, coached by Barry Variello, had surpassed all expectations. Swimmers who helped make this year a successful one were: Charlie Firestone - Captain, jerry Horowitz, Brad Itzkowitz, Alan Mentle, Lenny Shoob, and Doug Vemet. Despite finishing with a disappointing 2-11 record, the Cirl's Volleyball Team scored re- sounding victories over Brandeis and Farm- ingdale high schools. Under the direction of Coach Meg Erhard, the team was led by Co- captains Linda Kirschenbaum and Rosa Gar- guilo. In addition, fine efforts were made by seniors Kathy Rathgaber and Ellen Scloss, as well as sophomore Sue Schlmeyer. 78
