IEUIEIL IEEUEU Over the past few seasons, the Kennedy Cirl's Tennis team has been quite success- ful. Besides producing many great indi- viduals, the team captured Division A Championships four times: three years straight C1972-741 and in 1977. This sea- son provided much excitement and many thrills. In 1979, the team won the Division Av Championship and ranked fifth in Nassau County. The team compiled a 13- 3 record, 13-1 in conference play. Much of the team's success this season can be accredited to the line effort of Top Row: Mindy Wasserman, Marcie Bern, Karen Creenburg, Lauren New- man, Ellen Kaslow, Wendy Meyers. Bot- tom Row: Laura Feinburg, Tracy Packer, Shelly Newman, Alison Lubel. 62 Coach Carol Alberts. Her patience, hard work, knowledge of the game, and fine coaching ability were tremendous assets to all the team's players. Among the team's individual achieve- ments was the fine performance of third singles player Ellen Kaslow, who gar- nered a perfect 16-0 match record. In addition, the doubles team of Ellen Le- vine and Mindy Wasserman played out- standing tennis in losing only once in sixteen matches. Levine, Wasserman, and singles player Allyson Lubell were all selected as Division A all-stars. Highlights of the season included an eight match winning streak: three vic- tories over Farmingdale, including two by 7-0 scores, two victories each over Berner, Hicksville and East Meadow, and an incredible 7796 of total matches won. The team defeated Syosset in the division- al playoffs but bowed in the conference playoffs to a tough Lawrence squad. The team then produced one of its finer ef- forts of the season in the County playoffs where they were edged by Great Neck South 4-3. J-WM ,, uumuu - I' 'mu , ff iw , ,M ah! 1
