There are those who work simply to earn spending money. These students either tire of asking their parents for money or find that their allowance is not sufficient. Many students use the money they earn on luxuries like a new stereo or a car. Other students save their money to offset the expenses of a college education. There are as many types of jobs for students as there are reasons for working. A large number of students work in fast food restaurants. This type of job is good because the restaurants are usually local. One problem is that workers in fast food restaurants often get very few hours of work each. Also, fast food restaurants operate in a high pressure fashion. Workers are constantly being pushed to produce. Small stores are a local form of low-pressure employment. Small stores and restaurants are constantly looking for stock boys, counter girls, and delivery boys. Often, the students who work in these places are paid off the books. Salaries are not as high as fast food restaurants, however, there are more hours available each week. The work is fairly easy. Delivery boys can eam a lot of money, but often you need to use your own car. Many students choose to look for work on large shopping centers such as Roosevelt Field. This type of job also has its advantages and disadvantages. Department store employees often receive large discounts. The work is usually not physiml. The biggest problem in this case is usually transportation. If you don't have a car it is horrible. waiting for buses is at best frustrating. Another group of students work for caterers either as busboys, waitresses, or valet parkers. These people usually work very long shifts. The work is usually restricted to weekends. The students who want a job has a great deal of options. There are usually not that many openings for these jobs. But, for the student who searches hard enough finding a job is not really that difficult. pw!-vi

1 OO L A! SASSO Everybody wants to look different. No- body wants to just blend into the back- ground. One of the best ways to express your individuality is the way you dress. Last year, .everyone looked different in tight french jeans, big blouses, Candies, and Le Sports Sacs. But, that was last year. Now, looking like a chic Parisian is no longer chic. So everyone stepped off their high heels and awaited new trends. And there was a great cry from above. It said Co West Young Man. Students by the droves flocked to Marlboro coun- try. To their surprise, Ralph Lauren had taken an earlier flight and branded his name on every piece of apparel from tooled leather boots with an unbelievably pointed toe, to a ten gallon hat previously worn only by very rich Texans. To be an individual and look different, you don't have to necessarily change the style of your dress with the change of the seasons. Many students have worn the same clothes for the past several years and probably will continue to do so till graduation is but a dim memory. In every season of every year, some Kennedy students will be seen in ripped Levi's and Grateful Dead tee-shirts. Al- though the insignia on the shirt might vary and the patch on the Leviis grow larger, this group will always advertise their enthusiasm for the group embla- zoned across their chests. Another constant in the Kennedy stream of fashions is the preppy look, crewneck sweaters, chinos, and flat shoes. This is a style that has flourished for decades, although each year some stu- dents discover it. Everyone is fashion conscious, some without realizing it. Oneis wardrobe need not be extensive nor expensive, but it is a real reflection of the individualis values. It is the person under the clothing who can truly be an individual.
