The variety of things to do and sights to see in the city provide a welcome change from the relative lack of excitement in Bellmore and Merrick. The most popular reason to escape to New York is to do a little shopping. The shopping in New York is incredible. There is almost nothing that cannot be bought in the shops and on the sidewalks of the Big Apple . The 5th Avenue area has the best', shops, and is the major supplier of the designer jeans and paraphenalia which fill the streets and discos of New York. It's also the best place in the world to windowshop. Another interesting place to buy or browse is The Village. It is a perfect place to find strange, unusual, interesting items. The village is the home of many of New Yorks artists, musicians and writers, and the streets are usually alive with street festivals and block parties. Chinatown and little Italy also have a flavor all their own, and are cultural islands in the midst of the city. New York has a sampling of more cuisines than any other city in the world. It offers some of the greatest restaurants to be found anywhere, as well as some of the worst, from Blimpies and Nathans to Tavern on the Green. And eating in New York would not be complete without the street venders who sell everything from pretzels and franks, to shish-kabob and homemade cookies. The theatre district, Central Park, the World Trade Center, the Empire State Building . . . all highlights of what New Yorkers fand most of the worldj, consider the greatest city on earth. It's all right at our doorstep too. if Ha X A 3. gf. E A f . af' ?.v53Wg, X' f N 1, H ' 3 i n f f,,.415..-3531212-G-5,,fP' .. , .1 ..,3:.ts:a.H:,. 18 .pf .4-S!
